Must have overdone it yesterday, because today is groggy and tired. A good thing I did not go out last night, I think, and probably a 'good thing' (ugh) I have work tonight, so I can't run off to practice and wear myself out more. It's so hard to slow down; there's so much to do! And if I don't feel poorly, I don't see a reason to be lax... oh well ( Read more... )

I forget, have you lived in Boston?
It was easy for me to forget how close/integral the water was... but thinking about it that was makes so much sense.

In cases of extreme, prolonged stress (read god-awful summer stocks) I have gotten stabbing pain in my chest, usually on teh left side... no history of it though...

it is strange how much of a balance of machine and system our bodies are. I just got out of a massage, and we were talking about a lot of those kinds of things: how thigns affect eachother, or what energy has to do with physicality...

no answers, just interesting musings!

Yes, I spent several summer/winter breaks living in Cambridge with my first boyfriend. Real Boston is nothing like my dream Boston; in truth we seldom saw anything more watery than the Charles. In the dreams it's completely flat, with the ground just barely rising out of the water, and much bigger and more built up. Concentrated, with subway/railways burrowing all through it. It's really an amazingly place in my head, and it's really amazing that it's basically the same place every time I dream about it. Minds are weird, too.

Yeah the stabbing pain I think is probably a typical physical response to stress. I don't do enough to get that stressed, i think. My dad had an irregular heartbeat and bad indigestion, but he's aging and drinks too much and probably eats too richly, so none of us were surprised. High blood pressure does run in the family, but I think that may be more connected to diet/exercise than anything...

MMmmmmm, massage. Good for you! I hope you're feeling better :)

Gah, I had that stabby pain in my left chest driving down the road today. A couple deep breaths and it went away, I think my interstitial rib muscles were just being cranky.

Yeah, I think there is a big difference between the stress-stabby-pain and the muscle-cramp stabby pain. Every once in a while I'll get the muscle-cramp kind, where it only stabs me when I'm trying to inhale and I'll have to breathe shallowly for a bit til it goes away. Bodies are weird.

Docs have said that the stabby pain might be interstitial muscle spasms, but they can't say definitely. I've found doctors don't like to rule anything out anymore (so what good are they?). My stabbies came when I was resting, sitting at the computer or kitchen table, or laying in bed - no immediate stressor. My normal stress level is moderately high, though when I stressed there is no pain. Go fig. Maybe pain = I'm being too lazy!?
But, yeah, hurt more on inhalation. Sucks. Glad they've been gone for a while.
