Jack was quite frankly rather relieved to see another day again--he loved spooks and hauntings as much as any good Halloweentown citizen, but even by his standards, this was just too much! Halloween was about good scares, good food, and good fun, not--not hurting people like this! And he couldn't find Sally, either, he'd been looking all over the house.... He hadn't even been able to celebrate Halloween, he had been so busy taking care of Sally after those horrible monsters had torn her up.

Jack Skellington, gleeful character though he was, was very much starting to dislike this haunted house.

He paused in his explorations as he heard the crash of shattering porcelain, and a resounding thump--Jack peered into the entry room in time to see a blue-haired young man drawing a sword at.... the door? Oh, dear.... "Hold on, there!" He called, heading into the room proper and willing up a smile for the boy's benefit. "You don't want to hurt yourself, do you? That door won't open right now."

"Hurt myself? This door is going down --"

Kamina turned back to the source of the voice and froze, first seeing the skeletal face and deep, dark sockets. For a moment, he saw his father's skeletal remains in the dirt, half-crushed by Gurren, cape and bracelet still intact.

But that was only for a moment. The next moment he was back to the door, sword overhead, screaming, and letting the blade go through a fluid slice through the door. Or, it would have, had the door been willing. The force of the door back on him slid the blade quickly across the door, his body thrown to the door to complete the motion, the tip of the blade ending its interrupted arc narrowly missing his foot. He picked himself up and tried again, with a similar result. After a few more times, he tried kicking the door down, but to no avail.

"The damn thing's tougher than it looks," said Kamina, scratching his chin. If only he had Simon and his drill. That drill of his could get through anything.

Saya had been intending on simply walking past the entrance room, but the sight of a skeleton and a man attacking the door warranted the turn of her head. She'd seen skeletons before, of course, but they'd never been animate. It was interesting enough to where she decided approach the the unusual pair. The man with him seemed considerably less interesting, but she supposed he was probably new to be attacking the door like that. He might even be a good person, even if he did appear to be reckless. That would be really nice ( ... )

About a minute after Saya wandered in, J came in too. He'd been wandering the house, his talents coming in handy against the myriad creatures the house had thrown his way. The only ones he'd met thus far that he couldn't really do anything about were the phantoms; whatever they were, even his whip couldn't harm them.

And all that paled in comparrison to the sight he now saw. A skeleton, trying to talk a guy out of cutting down a door, and a little girl he thought he might have recognized admonishing the guy with the sword to not act recklessly. Quite an odd situation, that.

"You wouldn't like what you find on the other side," he said, one hand near his whip and an eye on the skeleton. "There's about ten feet of ground and a thousand foot drop, give or take a bit. All the way around the building."

"Ah, perhaps I can explain--" Jack's offer died mid-sentence as he watched Kamina lash out against the door, wincing in spite of himself at how dangerously close the blade came to slicing through the young man's foot. Obviously he wasn't fazed by that, if he was trying to kick the door down now.... "Indeed!" Jack agreed, to.... well, all three of them as the other two came in. He remembered his own premonitions, going outside for the first time.... He didn't really think the outside was something they needed to worry about, for now. "It hasn't been open for quite some time now, and you would find that we're on a floating island over an ocean. So perhaps it would be better to save your strength, Mr. ....?" He trailed off, not knowing Kamina's name, and turned to glance behind him at the other two ( ... )
