Characters: Alphonse Elric and Winry Rockbell Setting: Rose Hallways Time: Day 007, afternoon Summary: Winry and Al meet for the first time...in a while. Warnings: Awkward and angst? ;; Also fail OP fuck yeah.
Since coming here, Winry had done a surprisingly good job of keeping herself safe. She had been fortunate enough to come just as night was ending, so she didn't need to deal with the monsters people warned her about. When day had come and it was 'safe' she had decided to do some exploring. Might as well while it was still safe, so she would know how to get around this place when it was most necessary
( ... )
Alphonse hadn't really managed to get very far from his room, or down the hall, or anything, before he too stopped where he was, as well. It would have been quite hard to miss the approach of someone else, in his state, all of his senses doubly enhanced (from the lack of sight and from the changes...). So he was quick to hear the approaching footsteps and he was quick to smell someone - someone he didn't recognise - coming closer, too...
He hesitated, especially as he realised it was someone he didn't know, unsure of what he should do or say; if he should do or say anything at all. He supposed he should, though...He was sure it was okay, though, even if he didn't know who it was. There was almost something vaguely familiar about the scent, anyway...
After a moment, though, he spoke up, voice soft and calling. "H-hello?"
There was no way on earth. It had to be some sort of coincidence, but Winry's body was already picking up its feet and making its way towards Alphonse, at first just some hurried steps, and then to a run.
Alphonse is back home. Alphonse is back with Edward, and they are taking care of that stupid promised day shit. Alphonse is still stuck in the armor--but they were going to fix it.
Despite all the excuses she kept telling herself she was still moving towards him till she finally came to an abrupt stop a couple feet from him, panting.
Alphonse was quick to take a few steps back as sudden the foot steps picked up again, and he realised the person was approaching him quickly - a run - and the scent was rushing toward him. It made him nervous, because he didn't know who it was, or why they might be coming so quickly toward him - or was it to go past him? The thought hurt, a bit, but...
But then he heard the voice, asking his name, and he froze totally. No. There was no mistaking that voice, really. It was...it was definitely...
No.
He was scared though. If it was really her, then...he didn't want her here. He didn't want her to see him like this. He didn't want her here, she was supposed to be at home and safe...
It was him, but there something terribly wrong. His body, his face. They all seemed distorted, and if Winry hadn't held on to those images of him while he still had his human body, if she hadn't constantly had dreams of the day when Edward and Alphonse would come back safe and whole she might not have recognized him at all.
She might have thought him to be nothing more than one of the monsters that seemed to haunt these halls.
Dizziness seemed to fall on her and for a second she lurched forward but she put a foot in front of her to steady herself, and drew a hand to her forehead.
Winry had come to accept that this place wasn't a nightmare, but more than ever she wished it was.
She took a deep breath and braced herself so she could look back up. "Alphonse. What happened?"

"W-Winry?" he managed to choke out, voice weak.
