Day 16 - Your favorite Superman-Era

I would have to go with the Post-Crisis/Modern era.  I prefer that take on the Clark Kent/Superman duality over the Silver Age, but then I also prefer the Smallville take which is more of a combination of all of the eras.  But as someone who is more of a fan of Clark Kent than Superman (which is saying a lot ( Read more... )

I heartily agree. I grew up with the 70s version of Superman which was really the worst of all possible worlds. Superman was infallible and sometimes insufferable, while Clark was a nuisance. I still liked the concept, but eventually the execution wore out my enthusiasm and I moved on. Alas, this means I missed the impact of Crisis, and although I read the Death of Superman, it wasn't as resonant as when I came back to it years later. By that time, Smallville had reignited my interest in the character(s) and I could really appreciate how much more relatable Byrne's reboot had made him. To paraphrase a line from the early 90s (the kryptonian man arc perhaps), 'clark kent first, superman second.'
