Confession time: This was never one of my favorite episodes (I'm typing this even before I've started the dvd). Let's see if my opinion of it has changed.
Am I supposed to find it hilarious that Jonathan is listening to a song about a "good ol' boy"?
If I remember correctly, wasn't it the theme song to Dukes of Hazzard playing in Jonathan's truck? I think it was. So, really, just more meta, a la season five and Tom Wopat showing up in a car very Luke Duke-like.
I could be wrong. It has been awhile since I've seen those early episodes.

It was obvious to me that Chloe was trying really hard to push her own agenda, but in away she was right. I’m still thinking about season 6 - the image of Clark, sitting alone in his loft, playing not with his telescope but with his ball! @_@ - was it supposed to be a metaphor? If so, then it was really heavy-handed…sometimes I just don’t understand these writers…
I hated that scene for two reasons a) because of the way people now refer to it, and b) because when Clark was doing the same thing at the end of Pariah, it meant something and it actually broke my heart. By reintroducing it in Season 6, it took the meaning out of the Pariah scene because they then made it about Sv's ever-present love-triangels.
We can see in this scene that Clark is totally clueless about Chloe’s feelings for him - and yes, that’s totally in character for Clark (especially when you think about season 8 and how he didn’t seem to notice that Lois had feelings for him...)What's funny is that Lois and Chloe did some of the same things to handle their

// When she gets to school, she's dressed very un-Lana-like. This actually makes more sense in her desire to break out of the mold she's been put in. To tell the truth, her outfit is pretty tame. She's wearing black, yes, because her trademark color up to this point has been pink, but it's the too much makeup and change in hair (and red lacy underwear, apparently) that makes her look trampy

I really appreciate Kristen for her view on the lingerie because it was INCREDIBLY inappropriate to show this 15-year-old girl in her underwear even if the actress is 18.
Funny enough I thought it was INCREDIBLY APPROPRIATE to show Clark shirtless coming out of the showers, lol.
Oh, and btw - I had really hard time watching Clark and Lana scenes when she was trying to seduce him (those were the “MOST CRINGE -WORTHY” MOMENTS of the episode for me - ugh…@_@)That scene was cringeworthy, but I think part of it is that for me the sexual chemistry wasn't there yet. Tom and Kristen definitely got better over the years, but in the beginning I felt the friendship chemistry way more than the romantic. It was the lack of UST, probably. There were times where Clark and Lana did work (like the beginning of Season 5, I was actually happy for them until post Hidden), but at the same time I never got the feeling that they want to jump each other's bones. It wasn't like how it was clearly obvious how women like Alicia or Lois made Clark horny (

//I don't doubt that Clark wanted to sleep with Lana, but he seemed to be content not to (for the rest of his life, apparently), whereas Clark went out of his way in some episodes to try to get Lois in bed, lol (I'm thinking Disciple, Escape, Upgrade, and Charade in particular

Episode 15: Nicodemus (part III)itasheeJune 6 2010, 11:02:34 UTC
// She even expresses her true thoughts that she feels trapped in a relationship with Whitney because she feels guilty. There is continuity abounding in this admission because she was ready to watch the sun set with Clark in his loft in Shimmer (Shimmer?), but Clark was the one that told her to talk to Whitney because there was more going on than just him being distant

“I think one of the downfalls of that relationship and the way it is portrayed was that you never really got to know Whitney. You only saw what Clark saw of him, and I think Lana is smarter than that. She wasn’t with him just because her aunt wanted her to be with him. And she wasn’t with him just because he was the star quarterback. She was with him because she really did love him. But I don’t think Lana was still in love with Whitney when we started in the pilot. I think she was at one time, but she’d come to the point where she was just comfortable with him. She’d known him a long time, so they had a good friendship.” (The Official Companion1)I agree with this somewhat. I agree we didn't get to see how Lana saw him, but I think that seeing him through Clark's eyes wasn't necessarily a bad thing because I think we got a lot more honesty out of Whitney when he was with Clark. I think we would've gotten the "caring boyfriend" side of Whitney from Lana's POV, but I like that we got to know the boy/man thanks to Clark helping him
