Ah Gunn

I've said it before but it bears repeating: it's a bittersweet pain to watch s2 Gunn, knowing the kinds of crappy dialogue and plotlines that are going to be shoved down his throat because for some god-unknown reason Joss couldn't figure out what to do with him ( Read more... )

And it is commentary like this that sends me back to the DVDs to watch it all over again. So much there to tease out and ponder and enjoy. So, thanks to you, TBQ.

Every so often I think about doing comments for all the eps of the show I haven't done ep reviews of.

I then remember that I have absolutely no free time with which to do it, but every so often I think about that.

Heh! I watched Darla, Redefinition, Reprise, Epiphany and Dead End last night while I was waiting for the child to get home from band contest. This was the weekend for Angel Season 2 re-watching.

Season 4 is my baby, too. sigh.

Just doing my part for Angelic solidarity.

We need a hand signal or something. Maybe that move David does with his fingers.

I'm aware that sounds dirty and I don't care.

*sniffs* Amazon has not yet mailed the Season One I ordered. (Or its twin, for my boything in the UK with a multiregion DVD player.) Someday soon, though, I will partake of the rewatching!

It's fun to rewatch in the light of everything that happens. Granted some things are still painful, but the nice thing about this show is that there's always more amazing than bad.

I love s2 and s5 Gunn. I feel like we lost him part way through s3, and I was so glad we got him back at the end of s4 and in s5.

Yeah, s3 was really character assassination for a lot of the gang. Fred had none, Gunn and Cordy were turned into plot-convienence pod people, and Angel and Wes only look like themselves in the plotlines that don't involve romance. Which is such a shame because it would've been so easy to keep the dynamics ME was going for (eg Gunn and Wes having a falling out) without destroying the characters in order to do it.

I think s3 Angel is AtS's version of Willow and the magic crack. It's not that the concept was a bad idea per se, it's just that they executed it in such a nonsensical and horrible fashion.
