MESSAGE: I think Harry might be insisting on coming along, even if I tell him no. His magic may be able to help with some nuanced tricks. I hope you aren't offended? From what I hear, he went to school for a long time to hone his magic.

Hey, Velma? I'm Caleb. I know I don't know you, but you've got this thing that a girl I met thinks might help us get out of this place. Some kind of tool from wherever she comes from. Think we can borrow it for a day or so and I'll make sure it gets back to you?

MESSAGE: Hello Caleb. I'm going to try and keep this as direct as possible, to avoid confusion. Don't take this personally, but she should be talking to me instead of using you as her messenger.
Until I know who she is and am able to trust her, she won't get the machine from me. It is safe and well looked after until its former owner returns, if that happens. I'm keeping it safe for him, since he brought it here with him and he was quite protective of it.
I don't know your thoughts or relations to her, but I have no evidence that they knew each other aside from her word. Even then, she could easily be an enemy of his. He gave me reasons to trust him while she simply acted more interested in the tool than her 'colleague's' disappearance and well being. I don't know about you, but that bothers me.
So long story short, the answer is no, and I'm sorry.

Yeah, no, I'm all for avoiding confusion. I'm not technically a messenger. All I want to do is get home.
I didn't get why she wouldn't ask you, either. I figured it was worth a try, so I went for it. She said you were smart and wanted to know how the thing worked, and I'm on the same page there. The wanting to know part, at least. She seems genuine. Pretty naive, but genuine. I doubt she's that guy's enemy. It looks to me like they were partners in some kind of VR thing.
I only got here a few days ago, so I don't know about any history. I didn't mean to be insensitive. Like I said, I'm just trying to get back.

That's an interesting assumption on her part, considering we've only spoken once, and that was prior to obtaining this tool of sorts. I looked at it, but since it houses unknown chemicals, I didn't investigate further in case they were volatile and/or dangerous via other means. I'm an engineer, so it's only natural for me to be curious, but I know when I'm over my head.
You're fine. I appreciate you being direct, at least, but I'm sorry I can't be of much help to you. Maybe if she explained the device and it's mechanics I'd be more willing to work together. Bottom line is I don't trust her, and it's up to her to change that dynamic.
