I thought of the Reservation system when the Overlord offered a place of safety for the survivors...though for a guy who draws US Revolutionary War parallels everywhere else, Tom was quick to accuse the Overlord of a Final Solution.

(off the top of my head, the only time Tom talked about Native Americans, I think was in the series 1 pilot - talking with the doctor (Moon Bloodgood) about the people who lived in Boston 400 years ago. Anne then said "I wonder who will live here 400 years from now"...and Tom said, "Humans.")

While I admire the Overlords' strategy of "we will use human history to determine our system of governance" for its permitting the Overlords to remain alien aliens (and not people in funny suits)...it also makes it easy for the writers - and students of history - to go "mankind is soooo screwed."

I'm just glad Ben's not as much of a McGuffin as he used to be. (he could have slipped into a background role, a medic or scout, perhaps)

All the talk of Ben, and how he was a driving force for a lot of what the Masons did, irritated me a lot before he actually appeared onscreen. Now I'm convinced that Jessup is one of the most effective actors on the show; he gives a really moving picture of a teenager who still looks like a kid, but is being forced by circumstances to make adult decisions and do adult things.
