Why? Why does Hollywood have to remake and ruin everything??
And Maggie Q is such a great actress. I might have actually watched a show that had her in the title role (even if I can't imagine Shane West having even a 10th of the screen presence or chemistry w/her that Roy Dupuis shared w/Peta Wilson. I mean nothing against West, but really? As Michael??)
What I hate the most about this, not even so much the casting but purely in concept, is how it's stealing so many elements from LFN without acknowledging (from all that I've read) the crucial component that made LFN work: the unbreakable connection between Michael and Nikita. Where is the room for "Alex" in this picture? How is she meant to replace Nikita? And if Nikita has really gone rogue, WHY ISN'T MICHAEL WITH HER??
The most absorbing storyline in Bionic Woman for me was the relationship between Sarah and Jae - he and she were lovers, she goes crazy after govt experiments, he has to shoot her, he think he kills her, he trains her replacement, she reappears, they get back together... This sounds an awful lot like the Nikita/Michael/Alex dynamic that the new show is setting up, but the problem (well, there are several) is that a) Sarah was the supposed villain of Bionic Woman and wasn't in every episode, b) the actual lead actress/character was boring, and c) the show flopped! You can't have your title- and most-interesting-

1. Rockford sounds like a slightly nicer version of House. Which is is tiresome enough. Added to that, Mulroney just doesn't have the chops. Love Alan Tudyk though maybe he'll play a better version of Wilson.
IDK. That description fits Peta Wilson, Bridget Fonda, and Anne Parillaud, and I like all of them far better than the mental image this show's description is creating with "Alex".
It's not so much that they've cast a young white thing in what appears to be the "title" role...it's more that they're replacing Nikita. WTH? How can you call the show Nikita, if it's going to be about Nikita's replacement?
Maybe we've got it all wrong, and Maggie Q will feature much more heavily than we think...that show, I would want to watch, depending on what they do with Michael/Nikita.
I was trying to be pithy/snarky, and didn't explain myself.
You're right; that description fits all the actresses who've previously portrayed Nikita. My frustration and disappointment come from seeing that description once again. "Attractive, young, white female." Whenever a woman does get some type of a lead-ish role on a show, she tends to be an attractive, young, white female. For a moment there, after the Maggie Q casting announcement, I actually thought: omg, the CW, of ALL the networks, are going to defy that casting convention??!!!
A film about Leonardo was inevitable in this post-Dan Brown world. I presume the secret society is the Prieuré de Sion or similar. He could have a boy sidekick.
Wow, that stuff about Nikita is weak, weak, weak. LFN: TNG? I don't buy it. The frame of the original story isn't strong enough to make that interesting; it was the characters in their airtight underground box that were the key. Using Nikita as, basically, a McGuffin? I'm already bored. Not to mention offended at the use of the title.
Right. The original dynamic was airtight - it worked. Introducing one more character as a lead when she doesn't share any history with the others...doesn't work.
