And I know just mentioning this is going to drive some of you nuts; but on Tuesday Latino Review had a very spoiler-filled script review for Dead Man's Chest up that I was going to link to, but they have since taken it down -- I don't know the reason why. *squeals* at the Pirates teaser. Oh, lovely. It's gonna be hard not to expect the same quality as for the first movie.

Hugh? Hugh, honeypie. Not only are you incredibly sexy, but also? Men who know they're sexy can be very sexy, you know. Just look at Robbie Williams.

I don't know rightly how excited I am about Pirates...because while I think the movie is really awesomely pretty, production design and cinematography-wise, I was kind of "meh" about the first one when I watched it. The tone just felt off for me, and I really couldn't stand Will Turner. If it weren't for Jack and Norrington, I'd just forget it as sheer popcorn fare, not worth bringing up again. So I'm less interested in the second movie itself, than the fan reactions and boost it'll get from the movie.

While Jack and Norrington do make the film stand out, I actually fairly like Will. I used not to, at first, granted. But through fanfiction, he grew on me. I can honestly say that there isn't one single thing in this movie I don't enjoy. And the script is incredibly well-written, no matter that it might come off as a simple blockbuster to most people. Blockbusters usually aren't written near this well.

What do you mean the tone felt off?

Hard to describe, except that I cringed when most people laughed, was horrified when most people were excited, and generally got the feeling that the screenwriters had made so many adjustments and concessions that in the end, even they weren't sure what the film was meant to be. It's like a big, beautiful mess.

All verrrrry exciting. But I think you 'Ctrl+V'ed once too many times on the Hugh Laurie portion. :)
