Ah, Carlton. Hmm.

I just watched Take This Sabbath Day. I was kind of disappointed when I realised that that was the one that I was up to, but then I watched it and though, yeah! It's one of the earliest I followed properly and really got into the issues of.

It doesn't have a 'previously on' and it does have some great examples of the best of Sorkin's writing:

- The President invites Joey into the Oval Office to discuss the execution, but she asks about, and he knows about her thing with O'Dwyer. Plus, Josh shows up very completent and professional there, even having been under-cut earlier.

- When Sam meets with the PD guy (who used to beat him up in hospital) the PD asks 'are you going to make it personal?' and when Sam asks about what happened with his job at the law firm, he says 'what do you think happened?' All this shows a deeper/closer relationship than first suggested, without it being explained.
