Now, to explain about what happened at The Phoenix. We went to see their current production, "Miles and Ellie". We were running late but managed to grab two seats up front (my preferred seating area) sharing a table with a very nice lady ( Read more... )

To be honest, you weren't the only one laughing heartily at that play. And that old woman went above and beyond the call of bitchiness by not only getting onto you but berating the staff. NO ONE there blames you; the Phoenix people, including actors, were sad that you felt you couldn't stay. A couple of other audience members also told me they loved your laugh, and it made them feel free to laugh as well.

As I told them, and they agreed, if you're too old for a sense of humor, you shouldn't go to a comedy.

Well, I don't know what happened at the Phoenix, but the one time I was with you at the other theater, THAT was clearly a venue for lots of loud laughter - about a third of the audience were laughing just about as loudly. And that's a lot of the reason I verbally took down those three old broads in front of us who wanted to stand and bitch about it afterward. What also got me about that time was that you were clearly not going to argue with them and keeping quiet, and they STILL wanted to keep pressing it. If there's one thing I can do, it's argue past a reasonable point of stopping when necessary and make the other people wish they'd kept their yaps shut.
