I did my first ever phone banking too, calling swing states. It won't be my last time though, that's for sure. I live in Seattle, so frankly canvassing wouldn't have done much good. Local politics, though. We must do everything we can at the local level, because the federal government is fucked.
I honestly don't think Trump can read very well. Samantha Bee did a segment about planting rumours, pointing at all the evidence that Trump can't read. But I'm dead serious, I think he can only handle simple prose, and barely that. I'm a cognitive and clinical psychologist, and there are a lot of people like that in our country. Aside from his obvious personality disorder, I'd bet money that he has some kind of cognitive deficit -- ADHD, Early stages of dementia? Something -- It's pretty obvious from watching him.
