She was, too. With the aching shoulder and the early, early mornings, and all the other hosts of issues that came attached to her own body. It had been enlightening, to say the least, and sobering.

"Bonsai trees take such careful pruning," Reese said thoughtfully. "My mother liked them almost as much as orchids, but my father constantly killed them. The longest time we had one was about three years."

Xander had been out and about, since he couldn't find Jill, who'd been very quiet and sullen lately, or Clark, who he just couldn't find. He hoped Lex wasn't up to anything...but he doubted anyone on the island would let him get away with anything. So Xander was left to find something to do, with finishing with his building crew for the day and having no homework. When he'd walked by the rec room, he'd been quite glad to see the flash of purple. It had been a while since he'd talked to Trance and he hoped to rectify that.

Then he chuckled and leaned forward to give her a quick hug from behind. "I've been better. But I'm good." He begin cryptically, but it was the truth. He was still getting over Buffy's disappearance but it was better now, even if he impulsively checked on Spike to the point of getting on the vampire's nerves. Then he ran a hand through his hair as he chuckled again. "You like it? Spike did it as part of his auction date. You shoulda seen the clothes he had me. You could see your reflection in my pants. How have you been?"

"I've been better, but I'm good," she replied, quirking her lips into a small smile. "The room's decided to be nasty to me today and remind me what I left behind."
