But MEANWHILE!!!!

Dec 29, 2010 02:51

Okay so I really should have just put it out there; December was going to be a NO-GO month. Because nothing has gone. Nada. Zip.

ZILCH.

But I have not been just twiddling my thumbs, I promise you!!! I'm working hard on the next two chapters of SL (because they really should be just one big huge chapter, but the rational part of my brain tells me that nearly 8K words should really be broken into two pieces...) And I kinda want them to go "together" (or rather, one right after the other). So really, I AM getting somewhere. It's just that the building part of it is taking a huge long while. (Had to create another hood... but more on that later.)

WHICH REMINDS ME! I haven't updated that little status bar for you guys. ::slaps forehead:: I know a few of you have said it helps keep you on track with where I am... even though I sometimes leave it up from two chapters ago saying I only had 15% of the writing done... ::shifty eyes::

Anyway. Okay, so... what the hell am I offering, you ask? A bit of behind the scenes!! Yessireebob!

(Click on any of the "labelled" pictures for close ups.. they are large, though. FYI.)

Firstly, I would like to share with you a little bit of Covena Island...

It's not much. I'm still developing it, actually. I like to leave room for relatives because I never like to get rid of them... they just move out :P But anyway, the McTavishams live on the North-West end of the island, right on the end. The island has two beaches; North and South beach (original, no?) with a bridge leading to Trinity Isle (which is decidedly ritzier, although pretty much all of Covena is upper-class since it's so small.) Baylee and Blake's houses are directly across from one-another, as was mentioned, but I've never thought of them living on the island. In my mind, they actually both live in Edanomella, I just haven't gotten around to moving them downtown yet. You will see to your right, on the west of the island is a bridge leading to Edanomella, and also a random sinkhole in the island which prevents me from building on either side of the road, so I put a bridge there to accommodate it.

Here are some pictures of downtown Edanomella. I like to think the bridge is connecting in on the right side of the screen...

Why, yes! It IS Belladona Cove, acting as a Downtown! And it is definitely NOT finished. But let's zoom in to the finished (-ish) parts, hmm?

The seedy end..

Christiana's dorm from college is in the far right corner... but not really. This is just where the set was built, but it would not be this far downtown, actually. So pretend it's not there... and there's some other shopping buildings there or something :DD

East Main Shopping District is where Claire took Colton to go pick up her dress for the winter formal, and essentially what started this entire expansion of the downtown area.

Fun-Fact of the week: I was having the hardest time coming up with a fake name for a state-within-a-state. (And yes, Edanomella is considered a faction of the United States, but is primarily set in the Caribbean. Around-a-bout. Somewhere. ::waves magical fingers::) So anyway, I got the name because there was a can of lemonade on my desk, and Edanomel is Lemonade spelled backwards... and then I just added the additional "-la" at the end to make it sound fancier. In fact, every time I type it out, I have to consciously spell lemonade backwards in my head.

Okay I was going to include detailed pictures of all of the places I labeled... but it's 3am. And I don't have nearly enough that you haven't already seen. So this is "TO BE CONTINUED...." until I can get some better detailed pictures up for you :P
