Esca/Marcus, female!Marcus

I don't know how it would work, but I'd really like to see a take on a female!Marcus, with Esca staying male. Preferably not AU, but I understand having Marcus be female means major changes are needed.
Bonus if f!Marcus (Marcia? Flavia? Who knows) stays tall, strong, bulky/muscle-y/bigger than Esca.

Was going to ask for this too!!! Totally, utterly want!!!!
Chick!Marcus would be so interesting. Although men could kinda fuck lessers in Ancient Rome (and in Roman Briton), a woman never could. It'd be awkward on both ends!

I'm not sure what you mean by "kinda"--for a male Roman citizen, everyone he was legitimately allowed to fuck was a lesser. Female citizens did not have the same status or rights as male citizens. (We have very little idea of the sexual mores of non-Romanized Britons, but they were probably less restrictive.)
And there are certainly plenty of cases of female citizens fucking slaves and other social inferiors, whether or not they were supposed to (and of course it caused gossip if they were indiscreet)--although I'm sure a female Marcus would be too obsessed with being a perfect icon of Roman maidenly virtue to go there readily.

Not the OP
*nodnod* The tales of Roman women using gladiators as sex slaves/prostitutes are...not few. And you're absolutely right, Marcus would be too much a Good!Andproper!Roman! to go break the rules, no matter how many other people were doing it. Uncle Aquila is very much up in the air (bless you, Donald Sutherland, for playing every single one of your characters like a displaced hippie), but it definitely puts his, "I bought you a boyfriend :D:D:D:D!" reaction into a new light.
Damn, I want someone to fill this prompt so freaking hard.

BECAUSE MARCIA or whatever SCARES ALL OF THE OTHER MEN WHO WANTED TO COURT HER or whatever AND UNCLE AQUILA THINKS THAT PERHAPS SHE NEEDS SOMEONE TOUGH.

Marcia is not a Roman name--women didn't get praenomina, really--so she'd probably be Flavia. :-)
But yeah, she would totally terrify the crap out of guys by being BUILT LIKE A BRICK and SUPER-UPTIGHT. They would not be sure whether she would be a cold fish or BREAK them.
FILL Esca/Marcus, female!Marcus AU ish

Okay, I realize this is from ages ago, and I wrote this without reading your prompt, so it's sort of an AU, Marcus (Marcia) is still a solider. I messed with Roman society a lot, (okay more then a lot, but I think it makes sense). http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9411661/1/The-Eagle-and-Her-Hound After reading the comments, I kinda wanna re-write it so that F-Marcus is a roman maiden, and at 19 finally gets shipped off to her uncle because literally no one will marry her, Roman girls got married at 13 right? Maybe she meets Esca cause she's competing as a gladatorix, something bored rich women actually did or maybe he is her body slave and she convinces him to run north with her?

And then of course there's ESCA who JUST DOESN'T CARE and just BLINKS at her and it would drive her NUTS.
