Yeah, the cat already being litter trained would be a huge plus. I wouldn't mind training, but my parents might get pissy about it (*cough* pun TOTALLY not intended).
And oooh, good advice on the clawing/wet food thing. I totally wouldn't have thought about that. I've heard cats are prone to UTIs, so that's definitely good to know.
Haha, I just had the greatest mental image of putting a cat into one of those cardboard moving boxes. Poor thing. Might be a bit of a challenge to find a pet-friendly motel/hotel on the way there, but it'd only be a night, so maybe I'd get lucky.
Thanks again!! ♥ By the wayyyy, I'm sorry I didn't get to see you while in NY. :( Scheduling was crappy all around. Maybe this summer?
I'm not really sure where you live, but if it's Orange County, CA, I'm nearby, and our cat actually just had kittens that will be needing homes soon; they're about 3 weeks old right now.
My best, silliest piece of advice is to make sure you get a short-haired cat. I have two short hairs, but my best friend's is long-haired, and that's just a pain. :D
( ... )
I've been leaning towards a short-hair for that very reason. Long-haired cats are beautiful, but that's a lot of grooming.
I wish I could have two. :( Maybe in the future when I'm not a (relatively) poor college student, lol. My dad would probably love having a handy project like building a cat tree! He's always looking for things to do on the weekends, so maybe I could convince him.
Haha, I'm still on the fence about having a cat sleep with me. My friend Lena has cats, and anytime I'm at her house and we're trying to sleep, they bang against the door and meow and meow to try to get into the room hahaha. I don't understand that mindset, because usually, they want nothing to do with the room when we're, y'know, awake.
Awww. That's actually one of the reasons I really want a cat--I feel like they'll help me a lot with my depression and oftentimes loneliness. And also, they're adorable. ♥ I promise lots of pictures! Probably more than anyone will want to see, ahahaha.
