When Mama Arlene died, Chris mixed her cremains with some of her favourite potpourri, some of her favourite roses (dried), and her favourite perfume, and scattered (most of them) at Mt. Shasta, one of her favourite places and where she'd asked to have put. Her best friend took some and scattered those at Lake Tahoe where they owned a timeshare together.
(I don't know about Texas, but in Calif you're really only supposed to scatter cremains in certain areas, but the Neptune Society said that so long as you do it discretely and take out the metal ID in them that it's really fine, since they're sterile and good for plants. One of Chris' friends scattered ashes in her garden, under the roses her partner had planted and loved.)
ya know - the post about his last days didn't get me. this post about missing him and noticing all the little things that aren't the same - yeah that got me big time. me = weepy ((((HUGS)))
Going through that same thing right now, missing Angus. We've not received his remains yet and I thought about that today. Bruce is feeling better with the Sheltie Puppy, Isis, but I miss that big walking carpet of a border collie. I want so much to have him back.
Once my son leaves and he takes his shepherd (who is Isis' best friend right now), I may find a new border to come in with her. She won't be happy without a playmate.
