On ignorance of reproduction

Until I started actively trying to get pregnant, I didn't really truly understand how complicated and iffy the whole thing is. I've been a volunteer for Planned Parenthood since the 1992 Republican national convention. I've been on many types of birth control. I've led some sex education classes. I've practiced a lot. Oi. Sorry it's so complicated. Basically I just look at a woman and knock her up. I still can't figure that one out.

And if you come up to DC let me know and I'll do the CZ fertility spell over lunch. Results seem to be twins.

I tried for quite a while before I got pregnant. Don't laugh, but the best, surefire way to get pregnant is to make a non-refundable deposit on something that you absolutely cannot do while pregnant. Don't have a clue why, but it seems to work...

1. FINGERS CROSSED FOR YOU AND GRAHAM!

2. Every once in a while, I kind of sit around feeling shocked at the quality of education (sex and otherwise) that I got in a small-town public school in a solidly catholic/protestant community. Because in all seriousness, this process, including the timing was covered in the human reproduction section of my high school biology class (and in slightly less detail in my middle school health class).

Reading your post, I was going "Yep, yep, ah ha, yep."

Learned all of that by reading different books while undergoing IVF and then later on when I was drinking Chinese Medicine Teas and doing acupuncture.

There are some great on-line fertility apps now to help with the charting. I had software but I'm not sure the particular company is still around.

You didn't mention it, but I hope you're taking folic acid and other supplements now too. Best to do that.

I wish y'all all the best going forward!
