Sandra opened her eyes and closed them quickly with a groan. “Is the room s’posed ta be spinnin’, sugar?” she managed to pant out.
A cool hand touched her forehead. “Jesus, Sandra, you’re burning up!”
She managed to crack her eyes open enough to peer into the concerned ones looking down at her. “I’m fine. Just a bit dizzy.” She tried to site up to prove her point, and fell back on the pillows, skin paling rapidly.
Victoria placed a hand on her shoulder, holding her down if she tried again. “Just stay there. You’re sick, darling.” Cool lips touched her cheek. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you.”
The woman slid from the bed and moved out of the room, pausing at the doorway with a wry smile. “This gives a whole new meaning to ‘playing doctor’ that I’m not too happy about.”
