I've been playing live poker for over ten years now. Maybe 200 hours or so per year over that span; it's hard to say. And today was most likely the most colourful day of poker I've ever played in my life ( Read more... )

A smart fighter, deadly combo. A hat tip for using your head.

a) Why is JP beating up on Ericksen?

b) Seems like someone could angle shoot if they get crippled in a tournament. If they are sucked out on the river, they could have a buddy come over and start hitting them. They won't win the tourney, but they would get their money back.

Isn't it sad that I immediately thought of the same (painful) angle? I'm ashamed of myself.

With a little bit of tweaking, we might be on to a new trend in poker. Instead of a refund, what if you offered an Add-On, but only if you get your ass kicked at the first break.

I can just see the 2010 Main Event conspiracy theorists alleging that the tournament winner didn't get a hard enough concussion or enough broken ribs to warrant his add-on.

I'm gonna try this next year at BARGE. "Hey Ron, you're a rat!" will be your cue that I'm all-in with no outs. Start swinging...

"Team PokerStars Pro Terrence Chan"

Do you have some news that you're not sharing with the rest of the world?

Also, I'm sure you've heard, but not only is MMA legal in Australia, it's now legal in Massachusets. Looks like we might be going to Matt's for the UFC next year

I thought Poker-MMA was supposed to be a gag sport. And here I find out it's done in Oz, with rules and everything.

Wow - Who woulda thought there'd be so much violence in a Sydney casino.

The rules on violence in casinos can be pretty silly. A guy posted to a VP email group that he chased after a guy who stole a woman's purse at a reno casino and tackled the guy and he was banned from the casino for a certain amount of time too even though he was chasing after and attacked a criminal who was robbing on of the casino's customers. A hero to me but the casino's policy is any violence for any reason and you get kicked out.

haha you've clearly never been to Sydney! We like to get on the piss (drink) and punch-ups are common... but mostly in the Irish sense of brawlin

Seems the guy in the drama may have been an enforcer of some type.
