I am not a terribly ambitious person, it seems, for up until this week my plans for the future were generally just to keep on teaching Latin at HSE until I'm too old to keep up with the teenagers...well, and to eventually have enough Latin classes to teach that I could drop all the French and Etymology and traveling to Fishers HS and stuff. Hi!

I saw this when I was surfing friends of friends, and you don't know me from Adam, or I you (well, Eve, in this case), but I wanted to say (a) thanks for the work you're doing and (b) the decision to cancel Latin is a real loss for the schools you teach for. I teach classics at the college level, and I'm very grateful to all the people like you who keep the field alive in high schools.

So thanks, and whatever happens, good luck.

Thanks! I really hate to see them lose the program. We've won awards at JCL conventions, on the National Latin Exam, etc. - plenty for the school to be proud of, but they are only looking at dollar signs.

Awww, booo! My high school never had Latin; I would've taken it then. They are totally missing out.

Plus, job-hunting? I'm here to tell you, it sucks.

((hugs))

(How *is* Arcus doing?)

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to the job-hunting phase.

Arcus is...not much better than he was last summer. But that's still much better than he was a year ago this time...Anyway, still not much short-term memory, and he's getting kind of depressed/frustrated with not being able to learn. He was supposed to take AP Latin this semester but they withdrew him from that as he was not doing well in AP German first semester.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'll definitely keep keeping him in prayer.

As for this insanity of phasing out Latin - I'll be keeping that in prayer too, and for opportunitys to open up.
