Here I sit on the floor in the living room of my new place eating captain crunch. Mmm soo crunchy ... soo captainy. Anyways the last two days have been rather interesting. Its -25 Celsius and even colder with windchill. This is not uncommon in Calgary, and you would think that that transit system that has been here for about 20 years would be able to handle this kind of weather but it doesn't. So last night I was heading home from a friends house after gaming and I twisted my ankle on some ice. Ice was hidden under some snow so I didn't see it. Managed to limp on home and after that it still hurt but didn't seem that bad. This morning however its much worse. Its swelled up a little and any weight put on that foot hurts like hell. In one more week I take possession. I have signed many papers, payed out much money and made many phone calls. Hopefully this time next week I will have my very own condo.

So went to lawyers office on Monday to sign papers ... and more paper and yes still more papers. I have never signed so many papers in my life, some of them in triplicate even. Learned a bunch more about mortgages and buying property. Found out that with how long it takes for land titles to clear I will probably want to get gap insurance. If some ( Read more... )

So things are getting closer to finally being done ... I hope. Still a few things that need to be done that should be taken care of soon. I need to get condo insurance which I will take care of today or tomorrow. The mortgage is all signed and everything. So financing is about as complete as it can get. Its for the most part in the hands of the lawyers now. My lawyer has not got back to me about the condo papers so I may have to get a few day extension on that condition. Will give him a little more time then I will arrange things with my realtor.

Inspection was completed this evening. Nothing terribly nasty was found a few things that I will fix once I move in. Some things that I will probably want to address in the next few years. The thing that is most likely going to need to be fixed is the furnace. So as far as I know the only thing left to complete the deal is the checking of the condo ( Read more... )
