Wrote this this morning, couldn't post it due to Internet troubles.

Okay, so, I've had to call 911 twice so far in less than the space of a month, and neither time was what I'd call an "emergency." >_< No wonder the 911 system is so overstrained ( Read more... )

Oh...my...god! You certainly went through a lot! I agree that it was a bit strange of them to tell you to call 911 each time. Here in Chicago we have a 311 number for "non-emergencies." Well, I really hope you don't have to make any more calls to 911 for a LONG time.

Seeing a sick animal always hurts, but your dad did what was best. I'm glad the raccoon didn't have to suffer any longer. It's in a safe place now with you watching over it. I think he may have realized you were a friend to nature and all its critters, and that's why he kept coming on your porch.

I chuckled a little at that mental image of you moving that piece of tree trunk while a curious cat watched. I think it's wonderful that you'll always have a part of that tree and that it will continue to live on in your memories. This world could use more caring people like you.
