((OOC: And we're back on air. Continued off of this thread.Days start to bleed into each other. The only way she marks how they pass is by watching her room's rectangle of light go from one wall to another. That's the routine of her days, along with the arrival of meals, the occasional trip outside the cell to make sure her body hasn't decided ( Read more... )

Jenna has been marginally busy with other affairs since the initial capture of Sera. The Karma Society does require perpetual maintenance and managing, after all. With the looming threat that is a dwindling food supply for Tuners, the ever-present debate of whether or not to expand Karma City's glass dome and the cost and manpower issues that presents...Being Chief Director has never been an easy job.

But then again, why throw herself so fully into her duties when they have such an important person under their custody? Was Jenna avoiding Sera for some reason? She'd like to think that wasn't the case; it'd be utter foolishness that someone like her was unnerved or intimidated by a shivering little girl ( ... )

The person on the other side can't seem to make up her mind on whether she's singing actual words or just a melody. Maybe it's just that her mind is so far away it isn't making any decisions, leaving her voice to wander.

But eventually, it does cut off. In the silence that follows, it's easy to hear Sera pace from one end of the room to the other. There isn't a lot of space to cover, though, and soon enough the footfalls stop.

On the other side of the door and wall, Sera sits down on the room's bunk. There's a moment of just breathing, and then she starts humming again. Whether she's aware of it or not doesn't really matter; there's just nothing else for her to do.

That pause makes Jenna look towards the door, perhaps startled by the tune simply ending like that, waiting to see if it'll continue. Sera might not be the only one who was a little lost in the song.

When it resumes as a soft humming, that's when Jenna seems to snap out of whatever reverie she had briefly fallen into. She straightens up from where she had taken to leaning against the wall and moves towards the door, hastily punching in the series of numbers and swiping the keycard.

When the door opens, Jenna doesn't hesitate on entering. And when her eyes fall on the girl seated on the bed, the usual coldness is somehow different; a little more distant...

"Seraphita, do you know where you learned that song?"

That humming trails off when she hears locks pop out and the door hiss open. Sera looks over with a tired look, deciding that the meals must be coming in early today.

That weary look only lasts until she realizes who it is that's standing in the door. Any lethargy she has evaporates, and it turns out that Sera does have some energy left in her; more then enough to flinch away from where Jenna is standing.

She tries to say something in response to Jenna's question, but no words come out. In the end, she has to settle for shaking her head.

Jenna's hears that frightened plea, but she knows it's too late to stop now. Even Harihara's hunger, a constant dull growl behind her thoughts, is drown out by the rush of blood and adrenaline in her ears. Though the Atma's agitation certainly isn't helping matters.

"Consider it a gift, Seraphita. I will not permit you to languish in helplessness, or to be caught in the sun's purgatory. I do this for your own good!"

As she speaks, one of the tools is picked up; something resembling an injector, but with a soft, green and white glow emanating from behind a glass portion in its barrel. Jenna presses a series of keys and commands on the computer terminal, causing it to cycle through the data on its monitor faster, calculating the impending rewriting of data is soon will inflict on it next subject.

"We're low on resources, even here in the Karma Society. We scarcely have enough energy to infect and create any more Tuners. But you...You are an excellent exception." The tool is brandished not unlike a gun as Jenna turns to face the girl ( ... )

One half of Sera is screaming at herself to get up and run, to try and get away before it's too late. But that half is also competing with her entire left side, which is a long strip of pain and telling her not to move and make it hurt more.

So all she can really do is put up her arms and try to shield herself, even though she knows it won't do much good. Her eyes are caught on the needle, and that combined with the hurt makes her gasp for breath. Somehow, she gets words out through all of that.

"I-I don't want that! It's not right, it's...S-stop. Don't...!"

"But it is right! Who better to carry my research's legacy than you, Seraphita?"

The girl's right arm is roughly grabbed hold of again, yanking it out within range of the device's needle. This isn't like a normal injection, where one has to take care to pierce a vein. It simply has to come in contact with any portion of the viable carrier's body.

Such is why the girls' clothing isn't even bothered with. The pointed tip of the tool simply stabs right through her sleeve and sinks into the skin underneath. The computer hums louder as Jenna squeezes the trigger, dispensing the data corruption into Sera's body.

The lights begin to flicker and fade from the drain of energy, but Jenna pays it no mind. She is solely focused on this twisted task of infecting Sera with an Atma of her very own.

Sera's only response is a choking sound in the back of her throat. Her fingers writhe and spasm when the needle digs in through her skin, but just like when she hit the terminal, she can't make any sound ( ... )
