EDIT: I found the papers. They were under a pile of clothes in one of the dresser drawers that I didn't check because--well--there were clothes in there. I'm an idiot, all's well with the universe, etc. ;)

My room just ate a 300-page stack of work from the past year and a folder with writing notes in it.

Have you shifted aside all the books you might have conspiring in keeping you from your gift certificate?

That was my first thought, too. You can never trust the books... :) But I did just find the papers (after I came back from getting coffee, of course) underneath a bunch of clothes in a drawer that I do not remember putting them in. >< I'm an idiot, what's new? ;-)

Much as I do think I have a Thing beneath the bed that eats spare change, socks, and the occasional sandal that wanders too close, this time it was my own stupidity. I found the papers in a dresser drawer underneath a pile of clothes. Which is weird in itself, because I definitely put my laundry away before gathering up all the papers. Perhaps I sleep-walk. Or sleep-clean. Who knows? ;)
