Another Question from Sarah

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make things stick to painted concrete walls without removing the paint? I have been told there's a special kind of wax that does the job. Does anybody know about this? Or anything else that I might be able to use ( Read more... )

scotch tape and masking tape won't work. packing tape will. you can find this blue stuff at office supply stores, i'm not sure of what it's called but it looks like rows of silly putty. i use that because it's safe for both the walls and the work you put up. worst case scenario, chewing gum.

LOL! I'm sure my admin. would LOVE that! ;-)

I have seen the blue tape you're talking about. I will try that. I would assume that the putty stuff is reuseable?

ticky tack... it's also known as fun tack..... it comes in colors of blue and green. It works great! We use it to put up our whole classroom! Works Wonderfully! HOpe this helps!

I believe that's what I use, too.

It comes in a rectangluar shape, with clear plastic so you can see it. You have to work it really well rolling it in your hands, so your finagers can get tired. But That is the *only* thing we are allowed to use at my school since everything else takes off the paint.

I wouldn't use the colored ones, since I have heard they can stain the wall, but since I've only used the white, I cannot tell if this is true or not.

If you use enough little balls of it, your posters will stay up all year round.

I found mine at a teacher's store but also have seen it at Home Depot.

Um, before you resort to chewing gum (previous reply), I know Hammett's sells those wax sticky things, where there's a hook to hold up your posters on the wall, without taking the paint off. Any good office supply store should have them (or maybe even WalMart).

Also, I know that those Scotch Tape people (I forgot the company), makes poster tabs that you can pull off the wall without taking the paint off. They might be worth investing in!

Funny that you mention that! I read your previous reply to my other question (about starting a classroom library) and I went to Hammett's website. I saw the pockets you were talking about.. and I also saw the wax stuff which I got too. I'm going to try it ;-)

Thanks for your help :-) Can I add you to my friends list? :-)

Of course you can! Ironically, I added you to my friend's list this morning, lol :o)

Glad I could help! Since I don't have my own classroom yet, I'm living vicariously through other people's classrooms, hehe.

Glue as in from a hot glue gun also works, and pulls off fairly easily at the end of the year. It's something to occupy the kids on that last day, those few that stay until the bell. ;)

hot glue won't pull off easly from the paper you are putting up though...

ticky tack will work, but make sure you squeeze it to make sure it's not hard. The wax stuff works too, but it your room gets hot, it doesn't hold to well.
