Rose listened to what she assumed was an accidental broadcast and she was focused on only one thing.

"The drinks are free?"

She couldn't remember the last time she had a decent drink and after hearing that, it only became much more appealing. Except Rose didn't know exactly where the bar was.

She leaned a little away from him, teasing on purpose and took a sip from her scotch. "I think you're going to have to try harder than that, Jayne."

The big man pouted and returned to his drink. The thing about him was, he really didn't know how to flirt. He wasn't looking for anything serious, just one fun night, and he was used to paying for it. But he was pretty sure that Taxon didn't have any whores, so he'd probably get a slap across the face for offering to pay her.

"'Fraid I don't got a nice passel of lines stored up to give ya, darlin'." He shrugged blandly and wondered to himself if having sex with an Extra was like doing it with a doll.

The last thing that Rose wanted was something serious so they at least had that in common. If she did slap him, it would probably break something, given her vampire strength. But he didn't need to know that.

"Thank goodness. I hate it when people try and use lines on me." She tilts her body around to him again. "But I do like a bad boy."

That part was definitely true and Jayne gave that vibe off.

"Well," he began, perking up considerably. "I been known to get in fights and do some less than legal dealin's." He raised his glass, giving her a wolfish grin before taking a gulp.

Rose listened to him carefully, sipping at her glass and resting her chin on her palm. When Jayne was finished, she spoke again, voice a little low.

"That definitely screams bad boy to me. Anything else I should know?"

"Hell, not sure what you think's worth knowin'." He paused to rub at his chin. "Ya like guns?" When in doubt, talk about your weapons stash.

"Absolutely anything you can tell me." Rose downed her scotch and gestured to the bartender for another. "I don't know a lot about them, but maybe you could teach me." She had no use for a gun.

"I got a whole bunk full of 'em," he replied, eyes sparkling a bit. He was in his element when talking about, or using guns. "I name some of 'em. Just depends on how good they done me. Like my favorite, her name's Vera. She's a Callahan full-bore autolock. Got a customized trigger on her. She's 'bout yea big." He set his hands apart to show a rather sizable weapon.

She listened to Jayne like it was the most fascinating topic in the world; nodding here and there, eyes focused on him. Rose smirked a little at his action before she asked: "You got any other weapons worth mentioning?"

He wasn't used to women actually listening to him talk, unless he had agreed to pay them afterward, so he was finding all this pretty exciting. "I got plenty! Fact, I could take ya down to my bunk and show 'em to ya, if ya want."

"Alright, then." God knows Rose could use a distraction right now. "Just let me finish off this drink here and we'll go."

Jayne was tempted to hustle her out the door, drink still in hand, and any Extra that complained could say hello to his fist. But he decided it best not to play too eager.

"Well all right then." He returned to his own drink, smirking into the glass.

That would have failed because Rose didn't like being made to leave earlier than she wanted to. Besides, Jayne would have had a hard time trying to push her out; she was a lot stronger than she looked.

"Glad we're on the same page, Jayne." She smiled, swirling the liquid in the glass a little before she took a gulp of it.

"Same here," he replied, feeling more at ease than he had since arriving in Taxon. He would get to discuss guns with a beautiful woman and get some sexing out of the deal too. What a perfect way to end his night.

This was a pick me up that Rose needed to get her mind off things. A night of fun with a stranger with no strings attached or any other complications. Soon, she had drained the rest of her glass, glancing over at him.

"I'm ready if you are."
