Vala's pretty much recovered now, thanks to Claire and Daniel - she still doesn't really remember who she is, besides what Daniel's told her, but she at least doesn't believe that her kidnappers are here now, she just has new kidnappers to deal with - but everyone's in the same boat. Plus, there's something about this guy, she just can't seem to help herself.

"You'd probably give that a bit more pizazz if you mentioned your hobbies, whether you like long walks on the beach maybe, looking for someone with a good sense of humor."

He decides that this was probably a bad idea as soon as Vala starts talking. Humans are still so alien.

"I don't think I understand."

Well this one certainly is - literally.

"It tends to be customary when introducing oneself so formally, to offer a little more than a name. But I suppose the mysterious enigma can be just as appealing, if that's how you shoot. I'm not going to knock it. I'm Val...a."

The name still doesn't feel quite right.

He nods.

"Pleased to meet you."

"Hello Castiel, my name's Luna. It's nice to meet you."

The young witch gave him a wave and a bright smile, and she continued to speak without a pause for response. She had her wand tucked behind her ear and sounded perfectly serene, as if this was an entirely normal method of communication. (The fact that she continued to believe that the tablets were powered by imps probably didn't help. She had no real knowledge of technology, so she ignored it.)

"Do you really think that we'll be here for some time? I'm starting to get rather worried." Not that she sounded worried. "I'm going to miss my first lessons of the year, and they're usually very important. I hope somebody found my trunk."

"I think whatever brought us here intends to keep a hold on us, yes," he replies. He pauses thoughtfully.

"It is... possible that you will not miss anything at home while you are here." He can try to be helpful, at least. The look is somewhat reassuring.

"Oh no," said Luna, in the same placid voice, "I'll miss Daddy very much, and I expect I'll miss my friends as well."

It was a strange statement for her to make, and the fact that she sounded so calm about things made it sound even more bizarre.

"It's very kind of you to try and help."

Apparently she appreciates the gesture, however unsuccessful it might be.

"Have you been here for long?"

He almost attempts to correct her for misunderstanding his use of 'miss', but he doesn't. That would require social skills.

"It has almost been a week." He pauses. "And you?"

"I agree that introductions would be beneficial to us at this point, in order to ascertain any pattern or common grounding to those who have been taken. My designation is Seven of Nine, Castiel."

Curious at the difference in her from the other humans he's met, Castiel's head tilts slightly.

"I'm glad that someone agrees. It's... a pleasure." Pleasure, glad. They're still mostly just words.

Seven doubts that being two sentences into an introduction could possibly yield any pleasure for either party. She gets that it's largely out of politeness though, even if she fails to see the need.

"That remains to be seen, but the gesture has been noted," she offers flatly.

He's quiet for a moment. Still getting used to the social niceties of humanity, Castiel can completely understand her response.

This time, Dean is neither eating or laying on a couch, but actually showing that he's doing something somewhat productive. He's gone as far as he can to edge of the city, and is trying to figure out how to get past the barrier with absolutely no luck.

When Castiel speaks up, Dean glances at his tablet, and snorts.

"Trying to get along with the simple townsfolk, Cas?"

Castiel raises an eyebrow at Dean.

"It would be preferable over making enemies."

"True. I'm sure you'll win them over with that friendly tone you've got."

It might be annoyance in his expression, but that's all the response he gets. He's trying, okay?

"I take it you haven't found anything."

Mal hasn't been paying an excessive amount of attention to the tablet, but this introduction just begs for a response.

"You might wanna keep a close eye on that enthusiasm, you could set something on fire."

Have a raised eyebrow, Mal. Cas doesn't see anything wrong with his enthusiasm levels.

...wow. There's a couple of seconds delay in which he waits for something er... else, before he decides that humour is clearly not the way to go here.

"Malcolm Reynolds."

"Pleased to meet you, Malcolm." He's working on the people-skills fail. Seriously.
