Where's a nice 'swanky' but not break-the-bank-expensive (ie Angus Barn) resaurant
around the chapel hill/durham area that a lady would like to be taken for a nice
'special occasion' dinner?
It's a shame that I don't already know the answer to this but....

I second for Nana's. Also Four Square on Chapel Hill St near 15-501 business is also supposed to be very good (and expensive) It's in a big old house with a lot of character.
If you like fondue, there's The Melting Pot. (They have little romantic booths with curtains even.) All of the "atmosphere" is inside though. From outside, it looks like any other strip shopping center business.
Firebird and Maggiano's are both very nice chain restaurants on Main Street (outside) at Southpoint. Maggiano's has a pianist often in the evenings. For Italian, they are very good. (I remember that you like Italian)
Brasa is a nice Brazilian Steakhouse at Brier Creek but has a manly Brazilian rancher theme. (Meat, meat, meat)
