There's a car alarm going off in the parking lot. It's not a particularly effective alarm, because it's really astoundingly pathetic. It's just the car's horn, sounding weakingly and somewhat arhythmically, with a startling persistence. It's too regular to be natural but too flawed to be the result of a proper function. There's something a bit off
