Hey guys, can you recommend a nice sci-fi TV series that would involve all the usual stuff like interplanetary travel, spacecraft, space battles, possibly aliens... but also with mystery elements like time travel, parallel universes, etc? Series that I've watched of this genre are Fringe, Continuum, 12 Monkeys, The Expanse, Dark Matter, and of ( Read more... )

You didn't mention it, but I'm assuming you have already watched all of the various iterations of the Star Trek franchise. ;)

Firefly is a great sci-fi series, but it's very grounded: no parallel universes, time travel, any of that... though there are somewhat "psychic" powers that show up once in a while...

Did you ever see Babylon 5? It's hard to get into... the effects are somewhat dated, but the real issue is the acting/sets. It screams "1990s made-for-cable TV." Despite that, it's actually a very, very good show with storylines that are unfortunately very topical these days. It's well worth the investment in time to watch through it if you can get past the sometimes cheesy acting. It really picks up starting in the second season.

Farscape was pretty good.

Andromeda was... well... it wasn't always terrible.

You could always watch Red Dwarf! :D

I'm not a fan but some people swear by Dr. Who. The Twilight Zone, Farscape is fun but also a bit cheezy. Stranger Things, Quantum Leap, Falling Skies has was better than expected. Warehouse 13, Caprica didn't last if you liked Battlestar Galactica. Sliders if you like alternate dimensions and Defiance I couldn't get into but I heard that it got better.

Firefly only lasts for one season, though.
