I know I'm way behind the times in reading this, but hubby bought the collections of Astro City comics for himself for Christmas and now I'm engrossed in them. I'm a big fan of the "what else is there" stories -- not only superhero origins, but the point of view of ordinary people in a world of superheroes. It's the same affection I hold for the "View from the Gallery" episode of Babylon 5, and the same reason why I like low-magic fantasy worlds vs. high-magic -- there's room for ordinary people that don't just huddle in their homes to avoid accidentally crossing an Important Character.

Plus, Neil Gaiman wrote one of the introductions, which made me think of you!

I *love* Astro City. Always have, from the first issue. Haven't bought any of the collections since I have the original issues sitting somewhere in storage, and I'm a bit behind on the current Dark Ages arc. But I do love the book!

Don't tell me anything! I've only just finished the "Local Heroes" compilation and we need to get the rest of them. Once we finish those, definitely we'll subscribe.
