Chapter 6
“Ah, yes. That was her name; such a pretty name…”
“How the hell do you know Ayane, you fucking freak?!” Kikuyama looked as if he was stunned by the question.
“How do you not remember that day? February 1, 2001?”
“HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW THAT DAY?!” Ruki’s feelings of the past were creeping up on him. For nine years he’d been able to keep them inside. He was yelling, and he didn’t care. This made Reita come charging in, turning on the lights of the bedroom. He couldn’t believe what he saw; Ruki was standing with the bassist’s cell phone open, and Kikuyama standing near the vocalist, obviously not in the corner anymore. Too close to his little angel. He began to walk over to get Kikuyama away; for he had no phone in his hand, Ruki did. But why did Ruki stop him? “Rei; he knows Ayane… And there are things that I didn’t tell you about that day, you or the rest of the band.” Reita’s hand found it’s way around the now crying being in front of him. “I’ve kept it in for too long!”
“Shhh. Just let it all out.” And that Ruki did.
“The day that she died… Was…” It hurt him so much to say it. “My 18th birthday…” He broke down in Reita’s arms. Reita felt so sorry for the little vocalist. Such an important day for him, ruined by some stranger… Speaking of strangers, where did Kikuyama go? He looked around the room; no one there but the two of them.
Ruki suprisingly continued his story. “They opened up a case, because so many of those types of incidents had been happening at that time.” Reita turned to listen to his other. “It was him, Rei! It was Kikuyama! He was the driver, only there was something different about all of it… a, physical feature, maybe. We all change; but he, they look so similar…”
“Ru, calm down. I highly doubt that this guy is tormenting Uru just to get to you.”
“Rei, I’m not saying that he is. I’m saying that this is a coincidence! He just so happens to be going after Uru, when he caused me all this grief so long ago! Now, I don’t know why he is after Uru; but he isn’t after me, I’m just saying! Maybe Kai could have a clue…?”
“Oh shit! He must be worried sick now…” Reita snatched his phone from the vocalist’s grasp, and dialed the drummer back.
“Rei, what the fuck?!” Reita could tell that the younger was crying.
“I’m sorry Kai, I truly am. Now continue about Aoi.”
“Ok…” He let out a calming sigh, a small attempt to calm himself down. “He sent me… a text. And he said that he was gonna be late; errands… He never does that! And he called me sunshine; he only calls me that when were having fun! Rei, I’m really freaking out!” Kai was beginning to speak faster and faster by every word.
“Yutaka, calm down; please, just listen to yourself. Contact the police, and have them search for him. Everything will be fine. I have… other matters to attend to right now….”
“Ruki?”
“Yeah… I’ll tell you everything another time.” Reita ended the call then, and no time was wasted by the younger to be taken in by those strong arms that the elder had.
“How come-“
“I don’t know, little one. But don’t go and asking Kai; he’s kinda… dealing with his own problems right now.”
“What is it?” Ruki looked up into the eyes of his other. “I really wanna know~” He placed his head on Reita’s chest. Reita began to run his fingers through the vocalist’s hair soothingly.
Reita sighed before telling the younger. “Aoi. We don’t know where he went…” Ruki looked up at the bassist, fighting tears while doing so.
“You don’t think it was…”
“It may have been… and I let the little fuck get away…” Ruki reached up to give the bassist a quick kiss.
“Don’t go blaming yourself, honey. And who knows? It may have just been an accident. Rei-“
“Ru, do you really think? With our luck lately?” Ruki was stunned. Reita’s voice had just sounded so cold and unsure. The blonde knew that there was something wrong here, but what exactly? And then Ruki saw a tear fall from Reita’s eyes. He tightened the embrace and Reita began to cry in Ruki’s arms for a change. Ruki tried hard not to cry, and to comfort the bassist to the best of his ability; he just wasn’t used to this…
“I’m…so sorry…Ruki…” The vocalist just ran his hands through the bassist’s hair, fighting the tears that just want to fall from his angelic features. He knew he had to be strong for Reita this time.
“Don’t be. I love you and that’s all you should think about right now.” Reita lifted his head up from Ruki’s small shoulder and faced Ruki. He pressed his lips onto Ruki’s, his own way of saying that he understood. “And I will always love you, Rei.” Nothing could spoil this perfect moment… except the cell phone… Ruki’s cell phone began to vibrate across the table across from them.
“You should answer that.” Reita said. Ruki sighed, but upon seeing who was actually calling, he picked up immediately.
“Aoi?! Where the hell are ya dude?!” This made Reita jump. Ruki put the call on speakerphone.
“That’s the problem!” Aoi was whispering. “I have no clue where I am! I was on the way to the hospital to be with Kai and… I don’t remember anything… But you guys gotta help me! I think that Kikuyama dude has something to do with this! No… No… NOOOO!!!!! HELP ME!” And then the call was ended. The two blondes just stood there in shock.
“Rei, you call the police; I’ll contact Kai and tell him that Aoi called.” Reita followed the orders that were given. Kai picked up his cell phone immediately.
“Ruki! Reita didn’t tell you anything did he?” Kai sounded very tense, and as if he’d been crying.
“He told me about Yuu-kun. But! I have good news for you. Aoi just called me, so you can know that he’s alright for now.”
“For…now?” Ruki sighed. He hated to be the barer of bad news… He just had to keep it from Kai for now… for his own and for the drummer’s sake as well.
“Kai, Aoi is fine. Just don’t worry. I have Reita on the phone right now with the police and they are gonna track Aoi’s call to where he is. We should find him Kai!” the drummer’s small sobs stopped and Ruki heard Kai’s voice happily.
“Really? Oh I feel sooo much better now! Oh, Ru-chan, I gotta go, the nurse and all that…”
“I understand. I’ll text you with any news.” And the call was ended. Kai closed his phone with a sigh. Turning to Uruha, who was still unconscious, he continued speaking to him, like he has been since he started to worry about Aoi.
“Uru… You’re lucky right now. You don’t have to deal with Yuu not being here, let alone have a lover whom you don’t know where they are… Uruha… So many things I haven’t told you…” The drummer’s cell phone began to vibrate in his lap. Opening his phone, he saw it was a text message from Reita.
“Kai, its Ruki. I’m gonna be texting from ReiRei’s phone (since the police have mine =P) Well, they have my phone and are tracking the call~ Notify you when anything else comes along (:” Kai sighed a sigh of relief.
“Things might turn out right…” How long Kai just sat there, he didn’t know; but when his phone began to vibrate again, he snapped out of whatever was keeping him from reality. Another message from Reita.
“Kai, they’ve located where the call was from. Hopefully by the time we get there, he will still be there. We are gonna stop by the hospital to pick you up, so meet us outside. -Ruki” Kai jumped out of his seat, saying goodbye to Uruha, and asking the nurse if he woke up, to tell him that there is another emergency. He ran outside just in time, for the police car was speeding passed him, and Ruki’s mustang was coming to a slow stop.
When they arrived at an abandoned alley way, Kai was the first one to get out of the car, running almost with the police. A small ‘help’ was heard in the distance, but apparently only Kai heard it. He motioned for the police to follow him. He found himself coming along a man hidden underneath a large pile of wood. Kai could see a small trail of blood running from underneath the wood, and pried the wood off. He began to see raven black hair and got some hope. Hang in there Aoi… Just hang in there. With help from the police, all the wood was removed, and Kai just couldn’t contain his happiness. He helped the guitarist up and held him in an embrace.
“Aoi…” Kai sighed. He placed a small kiss on the guitarist’s temple.
“S-Sunshine~” It came out more like a whisper, but Kai was sure to hear it.
“Aoi, your gonna be alright~ We’re gonna get you to the hospital and get you all fixed up.” Aoi just nodded. The guitarist went to walk to the ambulance on his own, but found himself unable to without Kai’s assistance. All three of the members helped Aoi into the ambulance. The ride to the hospital was agonizingly long for Kai, and he held Aoi’s hand the whole time. Upon arriving, Kai was forced to let go, and him and the others waited in Uruha’s room together. After a few minutes, Ruki spoke up.
“Aoi said he was on his way here to be with you… Is there a reason why you two didn’t come together?” Kai looked down at his feet and sighed before giving a nod and answering.
“Yes. After he got off of the phone with Rei, I got upset cause no one was here for Uru when he woke up. I was thinking of…” He stopped. “Maybe I should tell them the details you left out?” “No. Rei will just tell Taka and then Taka will be even more of a mess.” “Of calling you back, Rei. Aoi left out some stuff, and I thought you should know.” Both the vocalist and the bassist were taken by surprise. Since when does Aoi not tell them anything? Kai searched inside his jacket pockets to take out a folded up piece of paper. Unfolding it, he handed it to Reita.
Reita opened the letter and put it out so the younger could read it as well.
Kai and Aoi.
Don’t go to the hospital to check on Kouyou; he will be fine, trust me. If any of you go to the hospital, one of you will pay the price. If you both go, one of you will die.
Show this to the police, I dare you. Besides, all they will find on here are your finger prints anyway~…
Just do what I say.
-Kikuyama
“He didn’t know how smart Aoi really is. I hope you don’t blame yourself for any of this, Kai.” Reita spoke softly but sincerely. Kai was a worry wart, and he always blamed himself for anything and nothing at all. Anytime he was involved in any little thing and something went wrong, he blamed himself.
“How do I not blame myself?! I went to the hospital. Somehow he knew! And now Aoi is hurt…” Kai bit his lip to fight the tears teasing him and hiding in his eyes. Ruki lifted himself from Reita’s lap and walked over to Kai to give him an embrace, his hands moving in circles on the drummer’s back in a soothing gesture.
“Shhh. It’s gonna be fine, Yutaka.” Kai lifted his head a bit. Looking into Ruki’s eyes, he saw how sure the younger looked, and this gave him hope for Aoi, for his beloved. “Oh, c’mon Kai! I wouldn’t lie to you!”
“Yeah, I know… I just don’t know what to think anymore…” Kai bit his lip again. Should he tell them about his odd dream? Did it even mean anything? Did he go against Aoi showing Ruki and Reita the note? He feels so torn up inside.
“Kai-kun?” Ruki was still standing right in front of the drummer. “What are you thinking about this time?”
Kai just shook his head. “It’s nothing, Ru. You know how much I worry…”
“But maybe if you would let us know once in a while it would lift a weight off of your shoulders.” It was Reita that spoke up this time. He looked away once the words left his lips, regretting they were ever said.
“Im sorry but I just cant do that Rei.” At that moment, the nurse walked in, having Aoi being wheeled in with her. The drummer was quick to his feet to get over to his lover quicker; to hold him in his arms, and to smell the familiar scent of the other knowing that he was going to be alright, was making Kai’s mood skyrocket passed happiness.
“Sunshine, you really shouldn’t worry so much. I was just cut up a little. Now all you really need to worry about Kou-kun.” Kai’s eyes swayed towards the figure on the bed behind them, just barely hanging on to life. The sorrow that had been shining in the drummer’s eyes appeared again seeing Uruha. If only he’d wake up… His wish was finally granted. Uruha’s eyes stared to open bit by bit, and everyone was up on their feet, including Aoi. They all took places around the guitarist’s bed and watched the eyes open slowly, for his eyes had to adjust to the sudden brightness. Blinking a few times, he looked at the four faces around him with confusion.
“Do I know any of you people?” Uruha asked, his voice a little shaky. Everyone looked at each other in confusion.
“I think he has amnesia…” Ruki whispered.
