and now it's a party

The three of them had arrived early that morning, and things were already off with a bit of a bang. It was clear that Faith and Elle weren't getting along, and while David didn't know Elle well enough to say either way, he was coming to learn that occasionally Faith had that effect on people. Not him or Christopher, obviously, and April probably ( Read more... )

It was oddly comforting to realize that there were more to the cause out there than he had seen thus far. Humanity, on a whole was faltered, flawed, and hurting. It was those things exactly that confused him, that concerned him and made him want to understand how they could all want to fight for the world that let them fall so easily to their knees.

The muted flapping of wings could be heard from the farthest corner of the Singer porch and Castiel stood there, looking outward for a long time before glancing to the other man on the porch. He knew Ruby had told him, others were coming.

Clearly, this was one of them.

It didn't take David long for him to realize that there was someone there watching him. Didn't take him long to realize that the guy was a powerful son of a bitch either. He'd had been watched by gods the entire time he was fighting over there, and he was tuned into it, almost like it was a sixth sense.

He didn't say much at first, just held up the blade he was cleaning as though to say that the guy shouldn't even think about jumping him, before lowering it again, and continuing to clean carefully.

"Can I help you?"

Castiel regarded the blade only for a moment. He was unsure if he was still able to heal himself under the protection he could grant to his vessel. It wasn't though he thought of harming, or even getting into a situation where that could become an issue, just a passing thought.

"I do not think so. I am Castiel."

Castiel. The name meant nothing to him at the moment -- Ruby might have mentioned it in passing, but otherwise there was no kind of relevance attached to it. Guess he'd just have to figure it out as he went.

"David Levin."

She still hated that he's there, even though his mere presence made her feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Occasionally, if she was with him long enough, it made her nice. But the Christopher usually took an abnormally loud breath and it was all gone in a whoosh because he just had the effect on her.

She leaned against the doorjam for a moment, knowing that he knew she was there. She didn't say anything at first, just looked at him. It'd been a while and she wasn't sure whether she wanted to look for new scars or not. She was the one that let him and Christopher go on those stupid hunts in the first place, she didn't really want to see if she'd inflicted any damage on him.

Eventually, she deemed it necessary to disturb him. "Hey."

David smirked slightly when he heard her voice behind him. He knew that it bothered her that he was here, but he had the tendency to go where needed, and apparently he was needed here. As much as she hated it, there was nothing she could do about it.

He paused for a moment, placing the knife down to next to him, before glancing back at her over his shoulder.

"Hey."

"So," she started as she pushed off the doorway and strolled towards him. "Fancy meeting you in this part of the middle of..." She paused a moment, midstep and looked around, before shrugging and continuing forward and perching herself on his knee. "Well, the middle of fucking nowhere, actually."

Taking a deep breathe, she took in the scent of sweat and stale laundry -- he must have left the clothes in the washer too long before he put them in the dryer -- and the ever present smell of whatever it was he used to clean his shiny, shiny swords. It calmed her down like nothing else could and she melted a little on the spot, her bones going soft and her entire posture sagging like the sleeves of a well-worn long sleeve t-shirt. It was comfortable.

It made her happy.

He grinned a little more at that, sliding an arm around her waist and letting her stay close. He'd missed her -- a lot. She'd been a bit too busy handling things with Sam Winchester over the past year, but he was doing better now that he could actually see and touch her. Physical presence was always better than a voice over the phone.

"Well, I heard there was a party at some old salvage yard. All the cool kids were going to be there, so I just had to show."
