*grin* Oh, this is lovely. ^_^ I love the Krampus! I'd never heard the legend before, but the way you write him is gorgeous; a little bit testy, a little bit dangerous...
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next! This is such a lovely look at Merlin's childhood, thank you for sharing. :D
I loved his character and read everything I could about his legend. It seems that he got all demonic after the introduction of Christianity, but I wanted him to be something more of a mystery and ambigous in his morals. He was very fun to write. And what I'm going to have him do next is even more fun. XD
Also, I am weak for lil!Merlin. I didn't mean to write over 4K for this part but I just couldn't stop the cute.
NATSUME YUUJINCHOU AHAHA! Oh lord, I have never watched anything that made me think more of wrist-slitting, black clothing and emo music.
But yes. I would like to see the magical creatures be a bit less one dimensional. I would imagine him a bit like Kantarou in some respects; seeing things others didn't. It's just that he's so amiable that he was able to get on with other people. Also, I think Hunith is super-protective. The comparison to Watanuki is interesting, what with my icon and all. ♥
Anyway, so glad you liked it and of course I will be finishing the next part as soon as I can. Although I believe old man pr0n is on the cards for my near future first. XD
Oh, this is so wonderful! I love it. I've been wanting Merlin childhood fic for a while now anyway, and ohhh this is just so perfect. And Merlin is such a good boy *g* and I love, love the little hints that he's not really all that human at all and Merlin just deciding to be
( ... )
I imagine Merlin to be the most adorable child in the history of forever. And the whole not-quite-human thing I suppose comes from the legends. I thought it interesting that, supposedly, his father was an Incubus. The Krampus also later became associated with incubi (if that is the plural *makes up English words*).
There are many legends, I suppose because he is known in many places and also because he is a pre-Christian being so has been around forever.
Funny you should mention the birch rod. This is the "virgacs" of the title. I was being clever and amusing myself using obscure words and puns there. And yes I agree that every now and then we need to break out the old traditions, which are clearly way more fun and traumatising.
