*nod* It was on the news here yesterday, along with lots of messages from friends and former colleagues from Romania. It makes me really, really sad that he survived all those major catastrophes only to end up shot to death by a madman.
Yes. Then again, it might be that his experience was one of the things that allowed him to, well, know so decisively what was the right thing to do. I mean, he had to know he's going to die...
I know. I believe he was one of those old-fashioned professors (and I mean that in the most respectful manner possible) that decided to give his life in order to protect his students. You rarely find that type in younger teachers nowadays.

A Peruvian student was killed too. He is mentioned in the article. And another one from Puerto Rico. They were the only Latin Americans killed there.
