Considering the plunge

I don't know how much good it would do me, but I'm half-tempted to do NaNoWriMo this year in a sort of unofficial way. I'll do it strictly for the motivation in finishing projects already started, not to start something new. (As if I need to start anything new.) I have no desire to win any awards or submit anything to the NaNoWriMo site. I'm ( Read more... )

musing, writer's block, *sigh*, life-family, creatively incapacitated

*hugs* As far as I know head trauma isn't a requirement for bi-polar disorder and if she had been seriously hurt, don't you think she'd have shown at least some symptoms that you'd have noticed?

Those cat pictures are adorable! Mmmm, happy, healthy cats. *purrs*

I'm not sure. I thought I had heard that before about bi-polar disorder. Or maybe it was just some link between head trauma and other behavioral issues. As far as signs, I'm not sure about that either. It was just something they had asked.

I once watched some doku on TV where they said there was a theory that it might be genetic, but I don't remember any mention of head trauma. Then again a brain injury can probably cause just about anything depending on where it is ...

I guess it can't hurt to tell them Tasha was involved in a car accident, though. Just be sure to add that she seemed unhurt before they assume you've just told them she's definitely had a head injury.

Hm... maybe I'm confusing different things I've heard about mental issues. I know head trauma has been linked to other mood disorders.

while I agree with silverfox in that it might not have caused anything but I do know that my father has had two closed head injuries and I do know that it has contributed to his depression and bi-polarness. It's probably alright, but then again I wouldn't rule it out either.
I'd recommend having her looked at with a MRI or CAT scan just to make sure that there isn't trauma in areas that could affect this kind of behavior.

Good advice. I'll definitely bring up the suggestion to them and see what they say. Thanks, hon. *hugs*

Keyword "inadvertantly" - meaning, it's not your fault and could have happened to anyone.

And those cats are absolutely adorable.

Yeah, I know you're right. But it still doesn't make me feel any better about the thought.

Oh....kitties....

If head injuries were the cause of bipolar disorder, you'd bet you'd hear more about it. I looked around the interwebs and saw nothing conclusive. Mostly, the answer was "not really."

Mm, you're likely right. I think I'm just letting myself get swept up in paranoia because I'm worried.
