>Nepeta: stalk the nervous calamari.cuttlefidgetApril 2 2011, 22:30:57 UTC
[Nepeta, you picked the perfect person to stalk. That is, one who will actually act like frightened prey! Daniel is, frankly, a little weirded out by this (especially the narration). He glances nervously back at her, makes awkward darting movements like he's going to try and run but is too afraid to, and turns a nice shade of frightened yellow around the edges.
[ Oh man, she is loving this. Nepeta's got no idea what this guy is, other than really entertaining; she drops the narration to a whisper for stretches of a few minutes at a time, becoming just a little more silent and serious about this, sticking to shadows or hiding around corners. Her movements become more brief and fluid, too, enough to show that it's not always just for fun.
[Do cuttlefish have natural predators? They probably do, and whatever they are, that is just about how Daniel is picturing Nepeta right now. Logically, he knows she's probably not a threat, but the animal part of his brain is flashing warning bells all over the place.
And it sucks. So eventually he's just going to stop dead in his tracks like some sort of bright yellow deer and sort of. Glance furtively over his shoulder to see if he can spot her.]
[ Nepeta seems to swing back and forth between serious and silly (always with obvious overtones of silly), sometimes playing it casual and sometimes just outright following the poor girl.
The further they get, the more she seems to be enjoying herself. ]
... the hunt continues as she toys with her target, waiting fur a moment to strike ...
[ The girl skids to a stop under the branch, though it's certainly tempting to follow. After so many years of hunting in the woods, she's a pretty damn good tree-climber, but it wouldn't be easy without her mechanical claws. ]
The human girl has made it to higher ground! The hungry kitty purrowls around the base of the tree, mewing up at her!

You know, narration kind of defeats the purpose of stalking. Pretty sure.

It's not real stalking, silly! I'm much sneakier when I'm actually hunting.

[Of course where he comes from almost everybody hunts so it's not really a surprise. Just... a little odd to hear it coming from troll girl.]

[ But at least she straightens up and stops narrating, that's a sure improvement. ]
