On this really very wet, rainy, and grey day! I hope all this rain puts the kibosh on 5th of July fireworks, as one night was enough, thank you!

Here's the second Sunshine Challenge: What's In A Name?, or - Fannish Identity.

Some questions offered I thought I'd answer.... )

I too am crazy about Spike and have been since "Checkpoint" S5 ep 12. I also have enjoyed being friends with so many people on LJ and other sites because of BtVS.

I became Shakatany because when I first went on the internet and commented on some BtVS sites a couple of people told me not to use my real name so I decided to use Shakatany because of the kat in the middle (I'm an ailurophile). I believe the name was created by Ursula LeGuin and I wasn't as smart as you as I did not ask her how it is pronounced (I say it as sha kat a nee while others have pronounced it as sha ka ta nee) and now she has passed away *sigh*

Yes have a wonderful weekend too.

Well, what the fuck--that's another name I've been pronouncing wrong all these damn years. I should just write a post in which I show everyone how badly I've been mispronouncing their names.

You are cool like Spike--you kept me from losing my mind when I needed an anchor so...you are a treasure, no doubt! ♥

I've probably mentioned this before, but I think "The Jungle Book" was the first book with small print that I ever read. I must have been about 5, and my poppa was encouraging me to read it. I remember pronouncing "naked" as "nacked". I never knew Tabaqui was pronounced like that ... I've been putting the stress on the second syllable all this time. And how weird and annoying having no one around you interested in supernatural-type fandom.

Hee! I...don't even remember the first small-print 'real' book I read. We had so many books, and I was always reading....

The Jungle Books is a great place to start! And really - who would guess how it's pronounced? Invisible r? Huh? :D

I have people around me who are interested in shows and movies, a lot, but not in anything remotely fan-fic, you know? Or fannish beyond 'this actor is hot', 'i liked this show'.

But stray into the world of AU and writing and such, and they lose all interest or start giving you weird looks, which is so tiresome.

omgosh. <3

I adore you so much. You never laughed (much) at me mispronouncing your lj handle, like ALL THE TIME and calling you Tabi to your face and to my family. Even after you explained how to pronounce it correctly and i *do* in my head, really, I do. But to me you will always and forever be Tabi, my bff, my brain twin, my inspiration, my heart. My everything.

aaaaand you know that my lj handle came from Russell Crowe and his song Sweptawaybayou. which is fun and silly and so damn creative i couldn't *not* use it. :)

I love it when you call me Tabi. It's awesome. You are just the best of the best of the best. I dunno what I'd do without you, bb, I really don't.
*beams at you*

Heee, that song. It *is* fun. It's you. A little angst, a little love.... Yup.
*smooches*
