“Awe, c’mon Hutch. We can’t arrest Santa on Christmas Eve,” Starsky whined.

“Starsk, first of all this is not Santa. It’s a guy in a red suit and fake beard. And second, he’s drunk. And third there’s complaints about him.” ( Read more... )

Very sweet! A very touching and heartwarming story (I wasn't expecting that twist) and you captured the boys so well.

Thanks for sharing your story! :)

Thank you! Truthfully, I wasn't expecting the twisty bit, either!

Awwww :) What a cute story. You know, this is something that a lot of writers tend to gloss over -- Starsky and Hutch's sympathy for other people, especially other people who do wrong things but aren't really hurting anyone. Their mutual understanding of why this sympathy is an important part of being a cop is part of the reason they are such close partners in the first place.

Thanks! Yes, I agree. Starsky and Hutch definitely showed sympathy and understanding. In the pilot, Hutch gives a dollar to a "bum" picking thru the garbage. And as the series went on, each had particular sympathetic tendencies. The important thing, too, is that they supported each other. In my story Hutch was cynical about the idea of Santa, but Starsky saw it as a sign of something-- something he couldn't describe, but a feeling he felt he shouldn't ignore. Hutch trusted him.
