I've been watching The Big Bang Theory for quite a while now and enjoyed it quite a bit, but right now I'm simply annoyed at the last two episodes, especially the whole Leonard/Penny stuff.

I know we don't know each other but out of curiosity I checked your journal because of your reply to my post - and I JUST finished watching episode 20! I have to say that I wholeheartedly agree with your conclusion. It was absolutely just a ploy to make everything "more exciting" when it was perfectly fine to have the nerd lusting after the beautiful neighbour.

Then again, I'm a Sheldon/Penny shipper, so perhaps I'm just biased. ehem.

*coughs* Ok I go now.

See, while I'm not a Sheldon/Penny shipper (I prefer asexual!Sheldon), I absolutely wouldn't mind if the show went that route. Not only would it be less clichéd than the typical "nerd gets the hot chick", but the characters and the actors play off much better against each other.

Leonard/Penny just doesn't work and the writers really need to realize that and bury it for good. Sadly the promo for the season finale seems to go for the whole "sex with the ex" angle.

Asexual!Sheldon, however realistic, doesn't seem to reach his full potential. Although perhaps not so much his CHARACTER as Jim Parsons... so again, that's just my personal attraction talking. But Jim and Kaley have such great chemistry onscreen that they could probably make a relationship work even for disbelievers such as yourself. :P

Ehk, really? I didn't see the promo but now I'm preparing myself to feel dissatisfied.

Like I said, I wouldn't mind a Sheldon/Penny relationship on the show, I just think it's nice if at least one of the four nerds wasn't so focused on sex/getting a girlfriend. Thankfully even if S/P comes to pass, at least Sheldon would still be Sheldon. He would be into Penny for more than just sex, unlike Leonard.

It's like the creators of the show just can't let go of their original plan to hook up Leonard and Penny, no matter how bad a fit it is. A little flexibility doesn't hurt, I mean they also didn't go for the Leslie/Sheldon route like they had planned.

To me BBT is like Scrubs: Perfect if you take the "Will they, won't they?" out of the ecuation. I get so annoyed whenever these two get together just to break up. They work well enough as friends, LEAVE IT ALONE!!

And I hate the idea of Sheldon/Penny as a couple. It goes against who Sheldon is at his very core. That is not to say that Sheldon can't improve, and he has, but he can improve as friends.

I suspect never, because they seem dead set on putting them together no matter what. Heaven forbid we change the initial plan and adept the show accordingly and pair Leonard and Penny with someone else.
Just look a what they suddenly did to Pyra. They did the same with Stephanie, first Leonard is happy in the relationship and the girl is good for him, and all of a sudden she tries to change him into something else, buying him clothes and what not. And let's face it both women are better suited to Leonard than Penny is. If Penny wasn't hot, he wouldn't give two shits about her.
And quite frankly I have zero sympathy for Penny, she had more than enough chances to get back together with Leonard if she truly wanted to. I mean, it's not like she doesn't know that he would take her back in a heartbeat.

I just can't stand when series try to force a couple with absolutely no chemistry /: it's just painful to watch. It's like they're too stubborn to realize that there are other couples within the series that would make a hell of a lot more sense than Leonard/Penny (granted, none of them would probably end well XD). The whole relationship was so shallow... any guy who still wants to be "friends with benefits" immediately after breaking up is obviously only with the girl for her sexytimes. I lost so much respect for Leonard during that whole arc. Not that I had much for him in the first place but still...

And by the way, would that happen to be Heather in your icon? :'D

Honestly, I lost respect for Leonard and Penny both during and after their relationship. Leonard is obviously only in it for the sex and the bragging rights and I don't know what Penny sees in Leonard, except maybe a meal ticket. When she let him pay for all kinds of things including her rent with no real intention of paying him back, I realized that Penny has become as bad as her own ex, Kurt.

And yes, that's Heather. Your Eileen icons are quite nice too.
