I'll never give up control of my finances to my debtors. The tradeoff for convenience is too high, especially when they don't have any of MY interests in mind. I'd rather have the power to deny that payment by just not sending a check, rather than have to wrestle the payment back from their hands.

None taken ~ I totally agree with you. I don't pay bills that way either, unless it's in a way that I have total control over (post-dated cheques, advance payment through my bank, etc.) There's just so much room for error, and I'd also always rather know the money's there in the bank before making the payment than leave it in someone else's hands.
