I LOVE Wodehouse and Hugh Laurie and Fry is a genuis ...I just had to comment! I haven't seen much of the show cos I've read all the books but I couldn't have chosen better actors to represent the characters. BTW, I think you might like 'A Bit fo Fry and Laurie' - check out the clips on youtube!!
In my enthusiasm to find out more about the Laurie-Fry partnership, I actually did dig some of their older stuff together on youtube. And so I have checked out A Bit of Fry and Laurie. It's a droll. :)Genius, like you said, is them. :)
Yeah, I read somewhere how Bryan Singer wasn't sure if Laurie can deliver an American accent but the minute he heard the latter speak (for Dr House), he was totally floored and won over. I guess the man has that effect on just about everybody. :D
Yeah! And the coolest part is, Bertie really is not the twit that popular imagination (unfairly!) stereotypes him as. It is just that just as with Watson, his virtues are unremarked upon because of the superior presence in his life. :)
(P.S. Do not take Orwell's critical stand too seriously. Recently I have discovered that Orwell used to take a "devil's advocate" stand with EVERYTHING that he truly loved. :-) It's his love speaking, but Orwell is trying his best to mask it with manly indifference. :)
