Title: Knowing your heart
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: HanChul
Note: Sequal to Let’s Play a Game
Summary: Hangeng loves Heechul, Kyuhyun had a plan but it back fired and now everything just seems to have become even worse.

Hangeng made his way slowly into the living roomThe dorm was completely quiet. He assumed that everyone had left and was thankful for it. His eyes shot up and he felt his heart thump hard as he walked into the room. The last person he ever wanted to see turned towards him eyebrow raised in question before looking away once again.

The elegant snow white coloured hand stretched out finger pressing against the buttons of the remote. That head titled slightly to the side hair brushing gently across the now exposed neck. Hangeng swallowed hard as images started to flash through his mind. Images of the time Kyuhyun had evilly locked them into a closet together and wouldn’t let them out until the actually Kissed! Hangeng felt his face heat u as he recalled them.

“Hannie”

That sweet voice called roughly pulling him from those oh-so-embarrassing memories. Hannie? Was that a new nickname? Heechul turned those brown eyes to him making his blood run cold.

“I want Beijing Fried rice”

It wasn’t a question nor did it sound like a statement. Hangeng shook his head as Heechul turned back to the TV. Maybe he was just reading too much into this. Hangeng turned on his heel, walked into the kitchen and started preparing the food Heechul had asked for. Hangeng sighed while he let his mind wonder.

He had thought that that kiss in the closet would have changed something. The only thing it had changed was Kyuhyuns appearance for the three days that followed, That was only because Heechul and handcuffed Kyuhyun to his bad and locked the room door so no one could get in. It was only due to Hangeng begging that Heechul released him, though Hangeng was pretty sure he would have done it anyway.

Hangeng had been shocked that after that heated kiss that something would change in-between them. Things like Heechul being angry and not talking to him, though Hangeng was all too happy that it didn’t happen. In fact Heechul still acted normal around him, it was Hangeng himself that had started to kind of avoid the other. Kind of because most of the time he just couldn’t bear to be away from him.

With the food finished Hangeng handed the steaming bowl over to Heechul. The other nodded his thanks, only looking at him for a second before turning his head and laughing at the TV. Hangeng sat beside him heart thumbing hard in his chest. He sat down watching Heechul from the corner of his eye instead of the TV he was pretending to watch. It was stupid the way he was thinking. Heechul probably just wanted to forget it ever happened. Unrequited love sucks. He loved Heechul but he just couldn’t do this anymore.

~
The door banged open making Hangeng fumbling with the item in his hand and looked up alarmed. Heechul stood in the door way eyes flittering around the room until they eventually landed on him. Hangeng felt himself gulp loudly as Heechul leaned against the now closed door arms folded across his chest. He pulled his right arm out and examined his nails.

“So Kyuhyun was right you are leaving”

Hangeng felt his blood run cold. Oh no this was not the way he wanted Heechul to find out. He swallowed hard trying to suppress the horrible feeling that was coursing though him. He leant down to pick up the shirt he had dropped not wanting to look at the other when he admitted that yes he was leaving.

“Yes I am”

The silence that bathed the room was ear shattering. Silent screams of defiance filled the room but Hangeng knew as much as he wanted Heechul to say the words he imagined, the other wouldn’t because they didn’t feel the same way. Heechul clicked the roof of his mouth with his tongue. Hangeng sighed pushing his hair out of his face and putting the shirt in his suitcase. ‘Say something you idiot’ that was what he brain screamed out at him.

“I’ll be going to the shops for some things before coming back...I leave tonight”

Silence again. Hangeng swallowed hard once again. His heart was beating so fast.

“Well get some milk with you we’re almost out”

Hangeng only looked up at the last minute. Just enough time to see Heechuls back before the door closed behind him. His legs gave way and he fell onto his bed. He fought the tears that were threatening to come with all his strength. He was exhausted ad just wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear. That was what he was doing though wasn’t it? Leaving Korea to go back home. Leaving Heechul. His heart twisted painfully at the thought.

Hangeng picked himself up wiping his eyes where some tears despite his efforts had fallen. He left the house to go to the shops getting everything he needed and making sure to grab the milk Heechul had asked for. He returned home with a heavy heart. Heechul took the milk he gave him and walked into the kitchen. Hangeng returned to his room double checking he had everything.

“Hankyung?”

He jumped at the sound of the voice. Kyuhyun looked at him. Hangeng quickly recovered for the little scare and zipped up the suitcase noting that yes he did have everything. Kyuhyun who had offered to drive Hangeng to the airport watched him with sad eyes.

“Why are you doing this Hankyung?”

Hangeng ignored the question completely. He didn’t trust his mouth to speak. Is emotions were barely intact and he was afraid they would overwhelm his making him a sobbing, pathetic mess. He picked up his suitcase and started walking past Kyuhyun.

“We better go I don’t want to miss it”

Hangeng thought that because Kyuhyun was driving he would have time to question why he was doing this but he was wrong.

“Please Hankyung don’t do this, not just because of him.”

It didn’t take a genius to understand that Kyuhyun was talking about Heechul. Kyuhyun was the only one who knew exactly how Hangeng felt about Heechul and that was only because Hangeng had gotten drunk one particularly hard day and Kyuhyun just happened to be there. Kyuhyuns eyes bore into him when they reached red light.

“Just drop it Kyuhyun”

Kyuhyun opened his mouth to argue but the look on Hangengs face kept him quiet. They didn’t talk again until they were actually inside the airport. Hangeng turned to say goodbye to Kyuhyun before he walked out through that gates that lead to the plane. Kyuhyun gave him a huge hug practically latching onto him. He whispered something to his ear right before they pulled apart. The words rang inside Hangengs head as he boarded the plane

“I hope you know what you’re doing”

~

Months passed by quickly. The first thing Hangeng had done was go to visit his parents just for a week and then he went off on his own. He brought a apartment close to where he worked, the first thing he did was give the number to Kyuhyun. It always made his heart twitch to think about Korea and exactly what he had left there but it had been his choice. Eventually the calls stopped and he stopped calling.

Hearing their voices just made him home sick. It didn’t stop him from thinking about what Heechul was doing. Sometimes Hangeng would walk out onto his balcony and look up at the starts that sparkled greetings at him, he would wonder was Heechul looking up at the same sky. As soon as he caught himself thinking that he would shake his head trying to get rid of it. He had no reason to feel betrayed, after all he was the one who had decided to leave. It wasn’t Heechul fault that he was in love with him.

Hangeng sighed ad leaned further back in the chair he was lying on. He memories were so fresh in his mind it was almost scary. Sometimes he would wake up in the middle of the night and swear that Heechul was in bed pressed up against him but of course that was impossible. Heechul was far away in another country just where Hangeng had left him. Hangeng closed his eyes imagining that Heechul was here beside him. He kept telling himself it was futile to think like this because it would never happen but he couldn’t help it. With a content sigh he allowed himself to be swept away by his day dreams.

The knock on his door late at night was not something he ever expected. He just managed to pull a shirt over his bare torso before opening the door. It was hard to say which one of them was more shocked. Him or the gaping Heechul standing before him. Heechul mouth moved as he murmured something to himself that sounded like “I’m going to murder him”. A phone was pulled out of Heechul pocket with one hand while the other was holding a brown box of some sort. Hangeng was still kind of stuck on- Heechul is here? In china? Why? And most importantly...Why?

“You better sleep with one eye opened”

Heechul shut his phone looking slightly annoyed before turning towards Hangeng recovered from the shock. Well at least that made one of them. Hangengs mind just wouldn’t work. It was almost like seeing Heechul had jammed everything that was inside.

“Well aren’t you going to let me in”

Heechul cocked a hip eyebrows raised in question. Hangeng shook himself out of the daze and stepped aside to let Heechul in. He toddled along after closing the door. Heechul had dropped the brown box and was surveying Hangengs apartment with a careful eye.

“W-what are you doing here?”

Heechul flicked his hair over his shoulder and looked at him with those eyes he had been longing to see.

“Nice to see you too”

Hangeng visibly stuttered embarrassed by his own rudeness. Hangeng opened his mouth to apologise at the same moment Heechul bent down to pick something up off his coffee table. Heechul twirled the silver bangle in his milky white fingers. He looked at Hangeng.

“You still have this?”

Hangeng eyed the object and nodded. That bangle Heechul had given to him when he took it upon himself to teach Hangeng Korean. Inscribed on the inside it read ‘property of Kim Heechul’. When Heechul had given it to him he asked him what the writing meant because he couldn’t read it. Heechul had laughed and said that it said ‘if you take this off you will burn’. Of course Hangeng had never taken the bangle off after that and he was pretty sure that was why Heechul always had an amused smile whenever he was him wearing it.

A soft expression filtered onto Heechuls face, just for a second before he put the bangle back down. Heechul plopped himself on the couch as if this wasn’t his first time being inside Hangengs apartment.

“I’m hungry”

He declared. Hangeng couldn’t help but feel the comfort and warmth mix with his anxiety and his fast beating heart. Hangeng had come here to China to get away from all these feelings, yet here they were in plain view and here was the person who made him feel this way.

“I lost a bet with Kyuhyun so I had to deliver this stupid box to a friend of his...I didn’t know it was you”

Hangeng imagined the regret that sprinkled through Heechuls words. Heechul stood up quickly.

“Well I should go”

Heechul moved fast. Before he could touch the door Hangengs hand reached back and grabbed him. They were facing opposite ways, almost back to back.

“Please don’t go”

Hangeng voice shook. Seeing Heechul hear in front of him he realised that he couldn’t live without Heechul in his life, even if that meant they had to be just friends. Hangeng let Heechul hand go scared of how the other would react.

“Why?”

That question felt like a dagger piercing through his heart. He put his head down ashamed. Their was no way he could tell Heechul just how he felt about him.

“Look at me”

Hangengs fist clenched but he refused to do what Heechul asked. He was scared of what Heechul would think when he saw just what was in them. He heard Heechul huff and assumed that Heechul had walked away. Two feet appeared in front of him, a soft finger curled under his chin making him look up.

“Damn it Hangeng look at me”

He stared into those beautiful eyes and felt his heart twist. Heechuls expression didn’t change to reveal just what he had seen in them. He gently removed a piece of hair from in front of Hangengs eye with a gentle finger. Hangengs heart thudded hard in his chest at the action. His skin tingled where Heechul finger had traced across it. And then Heechul flicked his nose.

“You really are hopeless Hankyung”

Hangengs head tilted down in shame as he let Heechuls words wash over him. That finger under his chin didn’t let him keep it down for long though. Heechul wasn’t looking up at him.

“I know Hankyung”

Hangeng blinked confusion mixing with the hurt. What was Heechul claiming that he knew. Heechuls eyes moved into his and he felt his heart stop. Oh shit Heechul knows! Heechul knows how he feels about him. Heechul knows that he loves him. But how? How does he know and for how long?! Did Kyuhyun tell him? Kyuhyun wouldn’t do that would he?

“Kyuhyun didn’t tell me...”

Hangengs eyes snapped up looking deep into Heechuls eyes. If Kyuhyun didn’t tell him then how did he know? A smirk appeared on Heechuls face before disappearing.

“You can’t hide anything for me Hankyung, I know you”

Hangengs legs started to shake and Heechul moved him so he could sit down on the couch. This information was too much. Heechul had known all along that he loved him.

“Why?”

Why hadn’t Heechul told him that he knew. Was he disgusted with him? Did he hate the thought that his roommate was in love with him? Heechul sighed and he kneeled on the floor in front of Hangeng.

“I already told you, You can’t hide anything from me. Where you ever planning to tell any of us that you were engaged to her.”

Hangengs eyes widened. Heechul knew about her. How did he know about her? He had strictly made sure to never mention her, at least when he was sober. Oh great just what he needed another drunk stupid confession. When Hangeng didn’t say anything Heechul continued.

“You were supposed to come back here to China to marry her right? When Kyuhyun told me you were moving here I knew you had made your choice and I was glad”

Tears started streaming down Hangengs eyes. Heechul was glad that he had gotten rid of him. This was even worse than the worst-case-scenario that Hangeng had ever imagined.

“I was worried that the kiss would shake you. As much as I wanted it to...”

Heechul trailed off realising he had said something he shouldn’t have. Hangeng looked down through his cloudy eyes at him. Heechul wanted the kiss to make him change his mind? Wouldn’t that mean that Heechul loved him too?

Hangeng blinked cutely down and Heechul and Heechul couldn’t control himself. Using Hangengs thighs as support he pulled himself up and pressed his lips hard against Hangengs. Hangengs lips were just as soft as they were back when he had kissed him in the closet, though a bit salty from the tears he had shed. He ran his tongue over those soft lips making the other gasp. He plunged his tongue into that warm cavern, tasting all of him. He basked in the sounds Hangeng was making; it was like music to his ears and they were just for him. There was no way Heechul was going to let some girl take what was him.

He pulled away but not before trailing his tongue against that bottom lips. Hangengs cheeks were flushed, that mouth parted open as he panted had Heechul wanting to press up against him. He loved the dazed expression that coated Hangengs eyes, only he should be allowed to see this expression. Only he should be the one to put that expression there. Hangeng blinked and grabbed Heechul hand when the other stood up.

“Saranghae!”

Heechul chuckled and pecked Hangengs lips lightly.

“Wo ai ni”

He whispered it in Hangengs ear causing shivers to travel the others body. All these feeling he had never ever felt when he was with her. It was like Heechul made him complete. His eyes watered again finally hearing the words he had wanted since this whole thing began.

Heechul pushed him down pressing a hard kiss onto those oh-so-receiving lips and slipping his hands against that warm chest.

“Wait”

Heechul pulled away looking down at Hangeng slightly confused. Hangeng ran his fingers up Heechuls arm sending shivers up the other.

“What about her?”

Heechul snorted before leaning in and nuzzled the delicious neck in front of him. He placed a soft kisses just under Hangengs ear sending thrills coursing through him.

“You forget, that’s you’ve belonged to me since the beginning.”

Heechul licked Hangengs lips before sucking on it softly.

“The only one that can have you is me”

Hangeng smiled to himself. Finally after all of this drama he got what he had always wanted and it was even better than he ever imagined. He surrendered to the sweet kisses that Heechul was pressing against his lip. The only thing that mattered in that moment was pressing as may kisses on Heechul as Heechul was pressing on him.
