Harvey/Mike, Victorian AU anonymous August 28 2011, 05:22:23 UTC
Harvey is a gentleman (rank up to you). Mike is a young street rat. Some part of their initial meeting goes like it did in the show, and Mike impresses Harvey enough for Harvey to want to change his life.

Mike becomes Harvey's apprentice, and also his ward. Which makes the inevitable sexual tension awkward and a little unfortunate. But then it is resolved. With sex.

Notes
1. This is very, very loosely based on the set-up to Mairelon the Magician. Use as much (or none) of that as you want.
2. As for the apprenticeship, I don't really care what they're doing. Harvey could dabble (quite successfully, of course) in politics. Or if you want to go the magic AU route like in Mairelon, that is also awesome! It's just that actual lawyering doesn't work for this time period, because it is (*haughty sniff*) trade.

This is a brilliant start! I love this prompt and the ensuing fill already! Have to say, Victorian AUs are a favorite trope of mine. :D

This is really, really good. I love the way you've captured the atmosphere. I also like the way you describe Mike, both because it's a really vivid and spot-on description of him, but also because it's interesting to see what Harvey notices.

Thank you! I am enjoying it so far. :)

Oh dear. Now I'm terribly sad for Mike. :( Though not surprised, really - both the era and the set-up kind of lend itself that way ( ... )
