This seems entirely reasonable to me. (Scotland is listed and England is not? WTF??? That makes so much sense...)

Scotland's only there because someone complained to Bradfitz and he added it.

Actually, I think this should go in the other direction - get rid of Scotland and leave it at UK. But LJ's country list is horribly out of date and has been for years, so good luck actually getting anything done on this!

Hahahahahahahaha. Good one!

So this goes all the way back to Brad? Interesting. (There aren't many of us around anymore who even know who Brad is, I think...)

(Actually, I agree with you. Use UK or GB and call it good... We all have the option to add any info we want about our country on the Profile page, anyway.)

Alternatively, make the "country" field a fill-in box instead of a drop down menu, although this might have the side effect of some people placing their "country" as Alderaan or Vulcan or Narnia.

Making it consistent seems like a good idea.

Scotland has its own parliament and legal system.

England doesn't have a parliament of its own, and Wales just has an assembly. And England and Wales share a legal system.

So Scotland is more of a country than England or Wales are.
