You know...

I hate to be an ass, okay, really I don't. So no buts. Anyhow, it kills me when people make comments like this, "I just recently purchased the canon rebel xt (not my dream camera but in my price range)." That's like saying, as a newb, I'm far above this camera, and although I take shitty photos with whatever camera I'm using, including the ( Read more... )

...indeed..yes. And, judging from the artistic and technical merits of 90% of the images I see in most of the photography and image related communities, it looks as though all those expensive DLSR's were set on "auto"....might as well had gotten much cheaper point & shoots.

hah Don't even get me started on that! It's a whole 'nother Geraldo. I could go on for days about it.

When I was in Tanzania I tried shooting in auto for part of a day, since we were constantly moving, I didn't want to miss anything. I ended up trashing all those images. It was such a waste. I kicked myself.

I think a lot of people (my age and younger, esp) seem to think the more money they spend on a camera, the better a photographer they are. Like, they're so devoted to invest this much money, they MUST be good!

But those are usually the same people that think any photo being black and white is art...

I'm not a gearhead and I researched my camera before I bought it. I research everything expensive and electronic before I buy it. I might not remember all the specs later, esp say on a laptop, but I still research. It's not really being a gearhead or not, its being an idiot or not. And there is too much money in the hands of the wrong idiots...

SPIN DOCTORS?!?!?!?!!?!?!? if you want to buy me flowers?

It's not just younger people who do it, granted, they make up a huge portion. Do you ever go to DPReview? It's crazy, old guys with too much money, not enough sense. New (grand)parents think their babies'll be prettier on a larger sensor-- assuming they even know what a sensor is. heh

Nah, you haven't got to be a gear head to make an informed decision. I don't know anything about air conditioners, but I still researched for days before I bought mine.

Yep, I'm hoping they play Two Princes. Their newer stuff doesn't do as much for me. Odd enough, since it's all the original members.
