Aside from a couple of drabbles, "Rituals" was my first T/G, so I had some characterization issues, too. The Ginny of that period is fairly limpid, but Tom... *twitches*
I also find G --> T easier to write. It's closer to canon than most other aspects of the ship, considering she "simply loved him". ;)
G->T fits very easily in canon. He was basically her best friend during her first year, and I'm of the opinion that she misses that deeply, even if he was just using her.
I signed up for the challenge at lions_serpents, so I think I might try T/G...sometime soon. :)
I'm keeping an eye on your "alter-ego", either way. :)
G --> T is an intriguing concept also because of Tom's resemblance to Harry, both looks- and personality-wise. Taking into account she talked to him almost every day for a whole year, that should be justification enough for her feelings to surmount the "Platonic" barrier.
Oh, I want to do this challgenge. I'm into Fanfic challenges right now. Maybe some nice Harry/Ginny or Lucius/Narcissa, but it would take me a really long time to finish it now that i'm back at school.
It will take me ages to finish, too, but it's tons of fun. Besides, there is no deadline; the only requirement is that you post at least once every three months. (From what I can see, though, Harry/Ginny and Lucius/Narcissa are taken for the moment.)
