As the poster said, if you couldn't spend your weekend in style, you might as well spend it with a cheap beer in your hands, surrounded by idiots. While Samus would certainly say that she didn't fall into the latter category, she could definitely get on board with the cheap beer part. Plus, that first line was mostly her fault. Or don't. You can kind of just stand at the edge of the yard and be awkward, too, if you want. Just so long as you brought some booze.

Naturally, drinking beer with a helmet on was not exactly easy to do, and beer was pretty much the whole draw of doing this cookout thing, Samus had gone for something as casual as t-shirt and some shorts. The shorts almost hadn't entered into the picture, but Gardner pointed out that it wasn't that casual.

And there were sunglasses, which mostly made her wonder how difficult it would be to equip a pair of shades with some of the scanning technology in her helmet.

In compliance with the flyer, April had brought booze. This was because April had worked last night, and it hadn't been too much trouble to remember to grab a bunch of beers in a plastic bag on her way out. If it had been any trouble, you could bet she wouldn't've done it.

So here she was, dumping said bag on the table and then heading off to the side with a burger, where she could fiddle with a beer can tab and watch people before deciding whether or not to talk to them. Like an adult.

Valentine had promised to provide the crew at Samus's place with some extra cookout food from the store, as well as few cases of beer, all the while finding it interesting that she technically still wasn't old enough to buy the stuff anywhere else. Yet, short of the bars, she was the one capable of supplying the most of it. Little things like that amused the crap out of her.

As did the fact that she was conceived as an 'adult' in this society now. Still, she doubted it would be too terribly different from functions attended as a 'student,' when you got right down to the matter.

Guy would be stationed at the grill, making sure everyone was fed. And giving into that manly urge to cook things over an open flame. With a beer in hand.

It's really sad how many times I've looked at those images and wondered how long it would take to Photoshop all the colors different to match even better....
